Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Financial Systems Analyst to drive development, forecasting, reporting, and accounting across all SpaceX projects. You’ll interface with production, engineering, sales, and executives to optimize spending and contract profitability for Space, Connectivity, and AI lines.

Responsibilities include building reports with Excel/Power BI, automating finance processes, performing SQL analyses, ensuring data integrity, and training users on new tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, mathematics, computer science, information systems, or other technical discipline.
  • 1+ years of professional experience in finance, accounting, or business.
  • 1+ years of experience using SQL and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Create reports, tools, and standardized metrics for operational measurement and improvement using Excel and Power BI.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand processes and identify gaps, then drive system enhancements.
  • Identify and drive projects to automate non-value–adding processes within finance.
  • Develop tools to analyze spending trends, productivity metrics, and workload balancing.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses via SQL queries to identify trends for decision-making.
  • Own system maintenance and data integrity; troubleshoot with other departments.
  • Test software updates and push corrections to internal finance applications.
  • Train users on system developments and assist in troubleshooting.
  • Analyze and interpret financial data for management reviews and decisions.
  • Support tax engine software and tax systems for worldwide determination and reporting.
  • Design tax data management/analytics processes including SQL data retrieval.

FINANCIAL SYSTEMS ANALYST

The Financial Systems Analyst will be instrumental in the development, tracking, forecasting, reporting, and accounting for all SpaceX projects. This is a key financial systems role with executive-level visibility driving spending and contract profitability for all of our product lines, including Space, Connectivity, and AI. The successful candidate will interface with all aspects of the company, including production, engineering, sales, program management, accounting, and executive management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create reports, tools, and standardized metrics for operational measurement and improvement, using software such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand current processes and identify systematic gaps, then drive system enhancements to optimize productivity or process improvement
  • Identify and drive projects to automate non-value essential processes within the finance department to remove the need for human intervention in remedial tasks
  • Develop and enhance tools for the to utilize that focus on spending trends, team productivity metrics, and workload balancing across the organization
  • Conduct in-depth analyses through SQL queries and other data analysis methods to dive into problems and identify trends for decision-making
  • Own system maintenance and data integrity, and troubleshoot with other departments as necessary
  • Test software updates and push corrections to system bugs affecting the finance team’s primary internal applications
  • Train users and leaders on system developments or enhancements, and assist in troubleshooting
  • Analyze and interpret financial data for use in management reviews and decision-making
  • Support tax engine software and tax systems used in sales & use tax and value-added tax determination and reporting around the world
  • Design and implement tax system solutions and related processes for tax data management/analytics, including writing SQL queries to obtain complete and accurate data needed for tax filings
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, mathematics, computer science, information systems, or other technical discipline
  • 1+ years of professional experience in finance, accounting, or business (internship experience applies)
  • 1+ years of experience using SQL and Excel (internship experience applies)
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with PowerBI, Jira, and Confluence
  • Skills in OLAP tools, applied business analytics and statistics, forecasting, and general modeling experience of complex non-linear systems
  • Experience in working in fast paced development environments
  • Ability to analyze data and check for accuracy/errors in datasets based on process and system knowledge
  • Knowledge of finance functions, with experience in cross-functional projects for business process enhancement/automation
  • Ability to frame unstructured and complex analytical problems for a broad audience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends as needed
  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA, and requires being onsite - remote or hybrid work will not be considered
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:
Level 1: $85,000 - $100,000
Level 2: $100,000 - $130,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

  • Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
  • You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
