- The Financial Services Developmental Associate is an early career professional role designed to build broad expertise across the organization’s Financial Services functions
- While in this developmental position, the associate may rotate through multiple Financial Services functional areas and/or business units
- Each rotation provides hands on experience, exposure to senior leaders, and opportunities to contribute to meaningful business outcomes
- The associate is expected to demonstrate initiative, adaptability, analytical thinking, and a commitment to continuous learning while supporting core financial, operational, and strategic activities
- This position is Remote, with occasional travel to Chattanooga, TN
Responsibilities
- While rotating through various Financial Services functional areas and business units, the associate is expected to carry out the following duties:
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Assist in preparing, analyzing, and interpreting financial statements, forecasts, and performance reports
- Support variance analysis, cost reviews, and trend assessments to inform business decisions
- Contribute to the development of financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Participate in the development, review, and monitoring of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
- Gather and validate financial data from business partners to support planning cycles
- Identify drivers of financial performance and recommend adjustments as needed
Operational Support
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand business processes, operational metrics, and financial impacts
- Assist in documenting procedures, improving workflows, and supporting compliance with internal controls
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and accuracy
Business Partner Engagement
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across Financial Services and business units
- Support business partners by providing timely financial insights, data analysis, and decision‑support materials
- Participate in meetings, presentations, and discussions to communicate findings and recommendations
- Contribute to special projects, strategic initiatives, and ad‑hoc analyses as assigned
- Assist in evaluating business cases, cost‑benefit analyses, and operational improvement opportunities
- Support implementation activities for new tools, processes, or financial systems
Professional Development
- Engage fully in structured learning, mentorship, and coaching opportunities throughout the program
- Demonstrate curiosity and initiative in expanding financial, business, and technical acumen
- Seek feedback, reflect on experiences, and apply learnings across rotations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with financial systems or tools, like Oracle NetSuite, SAP, or QuickBooks, is preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to new environments
- Demonstrated interest in financial services, corporate finance, or business operations
- Experience in Utilities/Oil & Gas/Energy/Government is preferred
