A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Financial Resource Coordinator to assist patients with insurance verification and financial responsibilities. The role involves educating patients about coverage options and coordinating with specialty care teams. Ideal candidates have customer service experience in healthcare and preferably hold a bachelor's degree.
The Financial Resource Coordinator (FRC) is responsible for coordinating insurance benefits, verifying coverage and approval for services, and assisting patients in applying for coverage opportunities. The FRC will contact and educate patients about their insurance benefits, provide treatment estimates, and collect payments. They work closely with SJC’s specialty care teams, including Oncology, OBGYN, and Infusion therapy, to ensure precertification, verify benefits, and inform patients of their financial responsibilities. The FRC handles processes related to self-pay patients, including eligibility screening, estimates, and assistance matching. They operate across multiple departments within SJ/C health system, including the cashier offices at Candler and St. Joseph's hospitals, infusion centers in Bluffton and Savannah, and the centralized billing office. Maintaining open communication with departments like the oncology service line, Patient Financial Services, and the Central Billing Office is crucial. The FRC reports to the Financial Assistance Manager.
Education
Bachelor's degree - Preferred
Experience
At least 1 year of customer service experience in healthcare, medical coding and billing, prior authorization, insurance, or medical finance is required.
