Job summary

BlackSky is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to lead the preparation of monthly and quarterly financials, including SEC filings and MD&A. This role reports to the Senior Director, Financial Reporting & Systems and supports cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, hybrid environment in Herndon, VA.

You will own XBRL tagging, GAAP compliance, and the consolidation process in OneStream, while coordinating with auditors and investors to ensure timely, accurate disclosures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Active CPA license.
• Minimum five years in public company audit or financial reporting.
• Experience in public accounting.
• Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
• Experience with Workiva.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting packages.
• Draft quarterly and annual footnote disclosures and MD&A.
• Create and maintain workpapers for SEC filings (10K, 10Q, proxy, 8-K).
• Support Investor Relations in quarterly earnings release.
• Coordinate comments from legal, finance, management, and external auditors.
• Assist with XBRL tagging for filings.
• Complete quarterly and annual GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists.
• Prepare responses to external auditors and coordinate audit support.
• Assist with journal entries for nonrecurring/complex transactions.
• Support SOX controls and subcertification process.
• Conduct technical accounting research on significant transactions.
• Serve as OneStream administrator.
• Maintain and update accounting policies.
• Assess impact of new accounting pronouncements.
• Perform other accounting and finance duties.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Financial Reporting Manager to support the preparation and filing of our quarterly and annual SEC reports. The ideal candidate is highly focused, knowledgeable in U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, and ready to dive into the financial reporting processes of our rapidly growing company. This role reports to the Senior Director, Financial Reporting & Systems and provides support across a wide range of technical accounting and reporting activities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be able to work out of our Herndon, VA location in a hybrid capacity.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting packages, including Balance Sheets, Statements of Operations, and Statements of Cash Flows.
• Assist in drafting quarterly and annual footnote disclosures and Management's Discussion & Analysis (MD&A).
• Create and maintain workpapers and supporting documentation for all SEC filings containing financial information (including 10K, 10Q, proxy statements, and 8K filings).
• Support Investor Relations in developing the quarterly earnings release.
• Coordinate and address comments from legal, finance, management, and external auditors throughout SEC filing cycles.
• Assist with maintaining and updating XBRL tagging for all relevant filings.
• Complete quarterly and annual GAAP and SEC disclosure checklists.
• Prepare responses to requests from external auditors and coordinate the audit support process.
• Assist with journal entries related to nonrecurring and complex accounting transactions.
• Support SOX controls and the financial reporting subcertification process.
• Conduct technical accounting research related to significant transactions and new accounting standards.
• Serve as an administrator for OneStream consolidations.
• Maintain and update BlackSky's accounting policies.
• Assess accounting implications of new accounting pronouncements and assist in implementing required changes across the accounting organization and broader company.
• Perform other accounting and finance duties as needed.
• Complete other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
• Candidates must have a currently active CPA license.
• A minimum of five years of experience in public company audit, financial reporting and/or technical accounting.
• Experience in Public Accounting.
• Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
• Experience with Workiva.
• Strong analytical skills and sound business judgement.
• Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and a commitment to high-quality work.
• Must be eligible to obtain a US Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the SaaS, satellite/space, or related technology industry.
• Experience with OneStream, Deltek Costpoint, and/or other similar ERP or EPM system.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on specific background and education. BlackSky is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect salary ranges in other states or locations outside of Herndon, VA.
