Job summary

Helmerich & Payne in Tulsa, Oklahoma is seeking an Experienced Senior Financial Reporting Analyst to support external reporting, technical accounting, and SOX compliance. You will contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC reports and assist audit requests, working closely with the Senior Manager, External Reporting.

You will develop analytical, written communications for external and internal audiences, research accounting issues, and prepare memos for complex transactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Accounting.
• CPA or CPA candidate.
• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to develop written communications for external/internal audiences.
• Ability to analyze and interpret accounting information.
• Proficient computer skills and collaborative team player.
• Self-motivated with initiative to own projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist with quarterly and annual SEC reports, including MD&A, using the Wdesk platform.
• Assist with audit questions and prepare audit information requests.
• Prepare tie-out packages of external and internal reports.
• Assist with SOX 404 compliance activities and respond to internal/external audit requests.
• Act as a technical accounting resource by researching and documenting issues.
• Provide technical accounting support for special projects.
• Prepare technical memos for complex or non-routine transactions.
• Contribute to other tasks and ad hoc projects as assigned.

At a Glance:

The Financial Reporting Analyst, Experienced Senior reports to the Senior Manager, External Reporting and is responsible for assisting with the company’s external financial reporting activities and providing technical accounting assistance.

What you will do:

• Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC reports, including MD&A, utilizing the Wdesk platform

• Assist with audit questions and prepare audit information requests

• Prepare tie-out packages of external and internal reports

• Assist with SOX 404 compliance activities and fields internal and external audit requests

• Act as a technical accounting resource for the company by assisting with researching, resolving and documenting accounting issues that arise during the quarter

• Provide technical accounting assistance with special projects

• Prepare technical accounting memos for complex or non-routine transactions

• Other tasks and ad hoc projects as assigned

What you need:

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting

• CPA or CPA candidate

• 5+ years of accounting experience

• Strong analytical skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills and written/oral communication skills

• Ability to develop written communications appropriate for external and internal audiences

• Ability to analyze and interpret accounting information

• Excellent computer skills and able to effectively work and communicate in a multi-disciplinary team environment

• Candidate must be self-motivated, take the initiative to accomplish work and take ownership of projects assigned

Not a must, but a plus

• Experience working with Wdesk

• Big 4 public accounting firm strongly preferred

• Experience in the oil field service industry strongly preferred

• Knowledge of Hyperion and Oracle preferred
