Mizuho Americas Finance - Financial Regulatory Reporting is seeking a seasoned professional to prepare and review regulatory filings across US entities. You will ensure accuracy under US GAAP, coordinate governance activities, and liaise with auditors, QA, and FRB to maintain compliant reporting production.

The role requires deep regulatory reporting knowledge, strong data reconciliation skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
  • 7–10 years of experience in financial or regulatory reporting in banking.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with regulatory reporting tools such as Axiom is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and regulatory reporting; familiarity with financial products.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare or review regulatory reports (e.g., FR Y-15, FR Y-9C, FFIEC 031/002/009/019, FR2644, FR2900).
  • Reconcile reporting data to GL, validate data, and perform variance analysis.
  • Support governance activities: trainings, committees, and cross‑team communications.
  • Monitor changes in reporting instructions and accounting standards; update procedures.
  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders across the organization and meet deadlines.

About The Team

Mizuho Americas Finance - Financial Regulatory Reporting is a team responsible for the preparation of regulatory filings for multiple entities under Mizuho US operations, reporting to Mizuho Americas CFO. This is a hybrid position. The selected colleague will work at a Mizuho office an average of two or three days per week with the remainder worked remotely.

Summary

Your primary responsibility will be to prepare and/or review assigned regulatory reports in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with US GAAP and instructions from regulatory authorities. You have working knowledge of financial accounting and regulatory reporting, as well as an understanding of the financial industry and products. You will support the team leader of the governance function for regulatory reporting, which includes coordination of the Regulatory Reporting Governance Committee, Interpretation Forum, and handling communication with outside of reporting production team. You will be responsible for regulatory reports across all entities under the Combined US Operations.

Core Responsibilities
  • Prepare or review daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual and ad-hoc regulatory reports including, but not limited to, Federal Reserve reports (e.g. FR Y-15, FR Y-9C, FFIEC 031, FFIEC 002, FFIEC 009, FFIEC 019, FR2644, and FR2900), Department of Treasury reports (TIC Reports), and Department of Commerce reports (e.g. BE-605, BE-15, and BE-125) with the ability to interpret the relevant regulatory instructions
  • Reconcile reporting data to GL, validate static data and perform variance analysis
  • Support the governance function of the regulatory reports, which includes development of trainings, coordination of the Regulatory Reporting Governance Committee, Interpretation Forum, handling communication with outside of reporting production team (e.g. Internal Auditor, Quality Assurance, and FRB), and Change Management Forum
  • Monitor and ensure that changes in the reporting instructions and accounting standards made by the regulatory authorities are incorporated within the reports submitted
  • Maintain and update procedure documentation related to new and existing regulatory requirements to ensure firm’s compliance
  • Keep track of each assigned task and project, and meet each deadline
  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders across the organization

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting major is preferred.
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g. CPA, CFA or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 - 10 years of experience in financial reporting, regulatory reporting, or related field in banking industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience in Regulatory Reporting tools such as Axiom is preferred.
  • Experience in BI tools such as Alteryx or Power Bi is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory reporting or financial reporting (US GAAP) and ability to set up workpaper from ground up with proper EUC controls
  • Working knowledge of financial products (e.g. loans, deposits, securities, derivatives, money market products, repos, etc.)
  • Strong ability to handle multiple tasks to cover both production and governance

The expected base salary ranges from $115,000 - $185,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, including Medical, Dental, and 401K plans, successful candidates are also eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
