Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in financial planning, modeling and/or forecasting.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree or higher in finance, Economics, Business, or related equivalent.
  • Experience with utility financial planning and accounting methodologies.
  • Experience building reports and maintaining data accuracy using SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, Access.
  • Experience interpreting GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills to senior management.

Responsibilities

Join Southern California Edison (SCE) as a Financial Planning, Senior Advisor and contribute to the financial strategies that support a cleaner, safer, and more reliable energy future. In this role, you will deliver high-quality financial analysis, strategic insights, and decision support to help manage the company’s financial resources and advance key operational priorities.

As part of the Operational Finance organization, you will partner closely with SCE’s operating units to develop short- and long-term financial forecasts, support operational planning and budgeting, evaluate financial performance, and contribute to regulatory filings. You will provide trusted financial guidance through monthly forecasts, variance analyses and recommendations that enable informed business decisions.

This position plays a critical role in identifying cost‑saving opportunities, improving financial transparency, and supporting effective stewardship of SCE’s financial assets. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, sound business judgment, and the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable insights for leaders and stakeholders. Responsibilities
  • Defines and implements the financial analysis strategy, providing consistent financial insight and analysis to be used to support effective enterprise strategy development, decision making and performance management.
  • Drives all financial reporting cycles with relevant and accurate information, including monthly results, statutory reports, short and long term forecasts/budgets and the overall finance strategy.
  • Ensures all Financial Analysis activities are carried out in compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements and governance standards.
  • Conducts executive level financial analysis presentations and communicates recommendations to senior leadership as required.
  • Shapes the financial evaluation and development of business cases for capital projects or capital program reviews that have a major financial or operational impact to the organization. Monitors capital investment for all authorization levels and ensures all revisions are submitted promptly for approval.
  • Guides the resolution of complex financial issues, developing least cost or cost benefit analysis or identifying innovative solutions for various scenario analyses.
  • Optimizes the provision of financial advisory support to the enterprise including analysis of potential investments, mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures.
  • Coordinates the analyst training program, ensuring a robust curriculum which delivers optimal learning outcomes.
  • Champions the implementation of risk management and internal controls processes, including assessment and monitoring current internal controls to ensure they are adequately designed and operating effectively in compliance with accounting, organizational, and regulatory policies.
  • Accelerates innovation within Financial Analysis, identifying ways to improve working processes through the application of automation or other technology solutions.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ten or more years of experience in financial planning, modeling and/or forecasting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree or higher in finance, Economics, Business, or related equivalent.
  • Experience with “utility” financial planning and accounting methodologies.
  • Experience building reports and ability to track, analyze and maintain the accuracy and integrity of large amounts of data using SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, Access and similar databases.
  • Experience interpreting and applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading projects and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills including ability to communicate financial information and recommendations to senior management.
Additional Information
  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
