Job summary

Stifel Financial Corp. is seeking an entry-level Financial Planning Support role to assist Financial Advisors in gathering data and preparing simple to moderate financial plans for clients and prospective clients using MoneyGuide.

You will work with branch offices, deliver completed plans by mail and email, and explain plans to Advisors. The role emphasizes data organization, planning support, and collaboration with Planning Specialists.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Required: Business Degree in a related field or equivalent work-related experience.
  • Minimum Required: 0-2 years securities industry or related experience

Job description

What You'll Be Doing

Under close supervision, works with the Financial Advisors to gather all applicable data and prepare simple to moderate financial plans for clients and prospective clients. May assist branch offices in the use of MoneyGuide (Stifel's online Financial Planning platform).

What We're Looking For
  • Responds to in-bound calls from Financial Advisor and members of their team.
  • Communicates with Financial Advisors to obtain all necessary information for financial plan preparation.
  • Creates various levels of financial plans ranging from basic analysis to comprehensive plans using the MoneyGuide financial planning software. Complexity of plans generally ranges from the simple to moderate level.
  • Works with Financial Planning Specialists to enter data needed to create financial plans.
  • Mails and emails completed financial plans to branch offices.
  • Provides detailed explanation of completed financial plans to Financial Advisors.
  • Assists Financial Advisors with information gathering while providing knowledge of the Wealth Planning Questionnaire(s).
  • Provides support to branches on how to properly use MoneyGuide as well as best practices.
  • Works independently to accomplish all activities required to meet plan preparation deadlines.
  • Develop spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and other project items as necessary.
  • Establishes knowledge of department and firm policies/procedures and industry regulations related to financial planning business.
  • Combines pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions and applies general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Basic understanding of the securities industry in general and various securities products.
  • General understanding of financial planning products and techniques.
  • Solid and reliable mathematical skills.
  • Developed interpersonal skills. Able to interact and function as a member of a team; equally able to work independently on tasks or projects. Able to professionally converse with Financial Advisors and other personnel concerning financial planning subjects.
  • Communicates well in both written and verbal form; able to organize subject matter and data well and present/explain it clearly so that others understand complex issues.
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Analytical problem solver who is generally able to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Courteous and efficient telephone skills.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum Required: Business Degree in a related field or equivalent work-related experience.
  • Minimum Required: 0-2 years securities industry or related experience
Systems & Technology
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with financial planning software
