Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full-time Financial Management Specialist 000376571M to work in the Nuclear Networks Division, AFNWC/NCN at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA. This position is an NH-501-03 which has a typical 2026 salary range of $101-375 - $156,715 (Includes locality). VOP for this position is 83 This is a Non-Supervisory Financial Management Specialist who will perform a variety of services to include formulation, justification and execution of budgets in the Nuclear Networks Division at Hanscom, AFB, MA. This PAE & Directorate-Level Financial Specialist serves as the critical liaison between the Division Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the Portfolio Acquisition Executive(PAE). This highly visible role is responsible for the comprehensive management, execution, and analysis of division-level budget execution. The ideal candidate will ensure that financial resources are efficiently allocated and strategically aligned with both the division's operational goals and PAE's overarching mission. You will provide strategic insights, actionable financial data, and expert guidance to cross functional senior leadership to drive informed decision-making.
  • MAJOR DUTIES: This position is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of program financial execution. The role requires deep expertise in budget formulation, financial analysis, and strategic resource planning to guide decision making and support division leadership. The incumbent directs actions and allocates resources to achieve program objectives; establishes priorities, plans, and operating procedures; and ensures program financial performance aligns with warfighter requirements in a timely and cost effective manner. Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate program requirements, support multi year acquisition planning, and oversee contract administration.
  • Apply financial management principles to monitor, assess, and drive effective execution of acquisition programs.
  • Track program performance—including schedule, budget, and deliverables—to ensure alignment with mission objectives and execution plans.
  • Provide strategic planning guidance for acquisition related activities, including contracts, financial systems, and process improvements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. SKILLS
  • Demonstrated experience in financial operations, accounting, and program support, with the ability to apply a range of established and emerging analytical methods and techniques.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a Financial Specialist, with a proven ability to deliver timely, professional support at the division level but prefer 4-7 yrs Financial Specialist; ops, accounting, program support.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with a track record of proactive, independent work—conducting analysis, executing actions, developing solutions, and presenting well reasoned recommendations.
  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data to identify issues, assess potential impacts, prepare clear summary reports, and recommend effective courses of action.
  • REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and will be required to handle and safeguard personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112‑81, Subtitle F‑Financial Management, Section 1599d. Incumbent shall comply with the requirements of this certification program within 24 months of assignment and engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 40 Continuous Learning points every 24 months.
  • These positions are covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The employees must meet or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Business - Cost Estimating Practitioner certification requirements applicable to the career category designated on the position description within 24 months of assignment. These positions also require the employees to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities, achieving 80 Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every 24 months.
  • Employee may be required to travel occasionally away from the normal duty station in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Work may occasionally require the employee to work outside the normal business hours, such as overtime or an irregular work shift.
