Job summary

Westfield is seeking an Underwriting Assistant for the Financial Lines team, based in New York City or Berkeley Heights, NJ. You will review and analyze transactions for completeness, support multi-line submissions, renewals, and endorsements processing, including rating and policy assembly.

The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance with state rules, and collaboration with underwriting relationships. You’ll gather financial reports and loss data, maintain diaries, and participate in process

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience required.
• 2–3 years of UA experience; financial lines knowledge is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, coverage, policy forms and pricing tools.
• Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong prioritization.
• Able to manage high workload and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical abilities and math aptitude.
• Team player who works well under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Review transactions for completeness, accuracy, and quality.
• Manage submissions, endorsements processing including rating and policy assembly.
• Maintain correspondence with customers and daily diaries on pending transactions.
• Ensure compliance with state rules for cancellations and reinstatements.
• Gather underwriting information from reports, audits, loss runs.
• Update internal reports as directed by management.
• Participate in peer reviews and quality control.
• Contribute to special projects as needed.
