Job summary

Responsibilities
  • Understand, implement and deliver financial education programs using the Your Money, Your Goals curriculum to increase financial knowledge, skills, and resources for clients and community groups.
  • Conduct one‑to‑one or small‑group financial coaching sessions to set financial goals and track empowerment progress.
  • Assess clients’ most pressing financial challenges and determine areas for additional support.
  • Build and manage working relationships with staff, partners, and clients.
  • Measure and record program outcomes in data reporting systems; complete program reports on a scheduled basis or as needed.
  • Plan, schedule, and implement outreach and education to families, neighborhoods, and organizations.
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining multi‑sector contracts and ensuring compliance with program requirements.
  • Perform other duties within the Financial Empowerment Program or as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience delivering financial literacy education and coaching to diverse or underserved populations.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience teaching or training adult learners.
  • Knowledge of financial literacy, financial stability, and poverty issues.
  • Experience creating and administering pre‑ and post‑surveys to measure knowledge, skill, and behavioral change.
  • Experience with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) tax preparation and an understanding of IRS guidelines.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills using prescribed curricula.
  • Ability to build trust with clients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds using a trauma‑informed and strength‑based approach.
  • Experience conducting financial education workshops and group trainings.
  • Computer literacy: adept with Microsoft Office, data systems, and virtual communication platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (both written and oral). English/Vietnamese acceptable.
  • Relevant certifications in financial coaching, counseling, or tax preparation (e.g., IRS VITA).
  • Experience with trauma‑informed care practice and strength‑based learning.
Travel

Candidate must possess a valid California Driver’s License with a clean record and vehicle insurance documentation. Travel within Orange County is required on a local basis, with occasional travel outside the area or overnight as necessary.

Physical Demands

Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods, bend, stoop, reach, pull, push, kneel, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity, vision, and ability to operate a computer for extended periods.
