Job Description

As a Financial Due Diligence Director, you’ll lead middle‑market transactions, working with corporate clients, private equity groups, and commercial lenders. You will guide engagements from initiation through close, coordinating cross‑functional teams, managing client expectations, and ensuring the delivery of high‑quality financial due diligence reports.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
  • Lead buy‑side and sell‑side transactions.
  • Manage engagements throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Coordinate other Grant Thornton capabilities as needed.
  • Serve as the day‑to‑day point person on engagements; lead meetings and calls with clients and target management.
  • Plan, execute, direct and complete financial due diligence for financial and strategic buyers.
  • Analyze client data to identify key trends, quality of earnings adjustments, and net working capital impacts.
  • Draft reports to socialize findings on earnings quality, net working capital, and business performance.
  • Manage client expectations concerning timing, progress, deliverables, deadlines, and lead change efforts effectively.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Manage business development activities such as proposals, account teams, whitepapers, conferences, and other thought‑leadership material.
  • Work closely with engagement teams and partners to resolve client problems.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets for new and follow‑on work.
  • Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization).
  • Train, coach, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance.
  • Lead and support business development activities, including proposal development and pursuit activities at clients.
  • Motivate others to perform at maximum efficiency.
  • Interview campus and/or experienced candidates.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of related work experience in consulting or service of cross‑industry clients at a national level.
  • Industry‑recognized professional certification (CPA or related license/certification).
  • Strong current knowledge of US GAAP, GAAS, SEC Reporting, transaction advisory services or mergers and acquisitions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and simultaneous projects.
  • Strong leadership, business development, recruitment, training, and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent written, presentation, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Salary Range

The base salary range for this position in the firm’s New York, NY office is between $202,500 and $337,500.

Location and Travel

This role will be based in New York, NY and requires in‑person attendance at least three days per week at a GT office or client site.
