Job summary

First Tech seeks a Financial Crimes Manager to lead AML, fraud, and sanctions programs across the organization, overseeing investigations, monitoring, and regulatory compliance with enterprise risk management alignment.

You will partner with business units, compliance, legal, information security, and enterprise risk to strengthen controls, address emerging threats, and promote a strong risk culture. A Bachelor's degree is required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of BSA, AML, OFAC, USA PATRIOT Act and related requirements.
  • Experience managing financial crimes operations, investigations, and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day execution of financial crimes programs including fraud risk management and monitoring.
  • Develop and mentor a team of financial crimes professionals; drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee controls, monitoring activities, QA, and remediation to stay within risk appetite.
  • Review complex investigations, alerts, sanctions reviews, and escalations for regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with business units and enterprise risk management to identify and mitigate emerging risks.
  • Support implementation of policies, procedures, and controls across processes and channels.
  • Conduct risk assessments, thematic reviews, and identify control gaps with corrective actions.
  • Monitor KPIs and provide leadership with actionable risk insights.
  • Coordinate with regulators, internal audits, and remediation efforts.
  • Evaluate new products and third-party relationships for financial crime risks.

Description

The Financial Crimes Manager leadsthe execution of financial crimes risk management activities designed to identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate fraud, anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions, and related financial crime risks across the organization. The position oversees daily program operations, control effectiveness, investigations, monitoring activities, and regulatory compliance obligations while ensuring alignment with enterprise risk management frameworks. This role partners with business leaders and control functions to strengthen risk controls, address emerging threats, and maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards. The position contributes to the organization's strategic objectives by promoting a strong risk culture and minimizing financial crimes exposure.

What You’ll Do:
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of financial crimes programs, including fraud risk management, transaction monitoring, investigations, sanctions compliance, and suspicious activity reporting.
  • Lead and develop a team of financial crimes professionals, establishing priorities, monitoring performance, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the effectiveness of financial crimes controls, monitoring activities, quality assurance processes, and remediation efforts to ensure risks remain within established risk appetite thresholds.
  • Review and evaluate complex investigations, alerts, suspicious activity cases, sanctions reviews, and escalations to ensure appropriate disposition and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with business units, operations, compliance, legal, information security, and enterprise risk management teams to identify and mitigate emerging financial crimes risks.
  • Support implementation of financial crimes policies, procedures, standards, and controls while ensuring consistent application across business processes and channels.
  • Conduct risk assessments, thematic reviews, and control evaluations to identify gaps, recommend corrective actions, and strengthen the control environment.
  • Monitor key risk indicators, performance metrics, and trend analyses to identify emerging risks and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, and independent reviews by coordinating responses, providing documentation, and facilitating remediation activities.
  • Evaluate new products, services, technology implementations, and third-party relationships for potentialfinancial crimesrisks and recommend appropriate controls.
  • Ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, and timely completion of regulatory filings and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver management reporting, risk dashboards, and presentations that communicate program effectiveness, emerging threats, and key risk trends.
  • Drive process improvements, automation opportunities, and operational efficiencies that enhance program effectiveness and investigator productivity.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on financial crimes risk management practices, regulatory requirements, and industry trends.
Essential Skills:
  • Required Experience:5+ years in AML, BSA, Fraud, Compliance, or Financial Crimes
  • Experience leading a diverse team including hiring, coaching and performance management
  • Strong knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), USA PATRIOT Act, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing financial crimes operations, investigations, monitoring programs, and regulatory reporting processes.
  • Knowledge of suspicious activity investigations, customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring programs.
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations, internal audits, and issue remediation activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, root causes, and emerging risks.
  • Experience with case management systems, monitoring tools, sanctions screening platforms, and risk analytics solutions.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into effective operational controls.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate risk information to senior leaders.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and reporting tools.
  • Certifications:Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS, Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)preferred.
  • RequiredEducation:Bachelor's degree in field relevant to role (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree), advanced degree preferred.

Target Compensation:

$104,000 to $125,000 annually + annual bonus
