Job summary

Clear Destination Inc. in Memphis, TN seeks an experienced fraud investigator to manage financial risk, investigate potentially fraudulent transactions, and prepare regulatory reports in compliance with federal and state laws.

You will analyze transactions, monitor alerts, lead complex fraud investigations, draft SARs and CTR filings, and coordinate with law enforcement and other financial institutions. A Bachelor's degree is preferred; CAMS is a plus; remote work may be possible.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of financial crime typologies, including fraud, identity theft and money laundering.
  • Familiarity with SARs/CTRs and related compliance standards.
  • Experience with financial crime detection tools and case management systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of Verafin and other BSA/fraud technologies.
  • Reg E/Reg Z compliance knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Handle end-to-end transaction error processing in alignment with policies and regulations.
  • Investigate transaction errors and assess liability using internal data and documentation.
  • Monitor alerts and daily claims for anomalies and suspicious activity.
  • Lead investigations into complex fraud and financial crime schemes.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to escalate cases and recommend controls.
  • Liaise with law enforcement and other financial institutions as appropriate.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready case documentation.
  • Support training and mentoring of junior analysts.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

Plays an enhanced rolein managing financial risk posed to the organization. This position investigates and resolves potentially fraudulent transactions reported by members, as well as complex financial crimes cases, and conducts regulatory reporting in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. The role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, quick decision-making, and the ability to operate independently to mitigate and improve risk mitigation strategies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
  1. Handle end-to-end transaction error processing in alignment with internal policies, processor rules, and regulatory requirements.
  2. Investigate transaction errors and assess liability using internal tools, data analysis, and supporting documentation.
  3. Monitor transaction alerts and daily claims for anomalies and suspicious activity.
  4. Lead investigations into complex fraud and financial crime schemes, including, but not limited to, synthetic identity theft, mule activity, and organized crime rings.
  5. Draft Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), ensure timely and accurate Currency Transaction Report (CTR) filings, and support regulatory submissions.
  6. Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization to escalates cases, assess trends, and recommend controls.
  7. Liaise with law enforcement and other financial institutions when appropriate for the prosecution and resolution of cases.
  8. Maintain organized and audit-ready case documentation in support of regulatory and internal reviews.
  9. Support training and mentoring of junior analysts and team members.
  10. Other related duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience Required:
  • Strong understanding of financial crime typologies, including first- and third-party fraud, identity theft and synthetic identity fraud, money laundering and cybercrime.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., SARs, CTRs) and related compliance standards.
  • Experience with financial crime detection tools, case management systems, and card network platforms.
  • Extensive knowledge ofVerafinand other BSA/fraud related technologies.
  • Knowledge of Reg E/Reg Z regulatory compliance experience preferred.

Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree preferred. Associate's degree or three years of BSA/AML or fraud investigation experience required. CAMS certification a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is generally carried out in a typical open office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the working conditions are those of a typical office environment, with temperatures occasionally too warm or too cold, moderate noise levels and under lighting conditions typical of an office. Possibility for some remote work as needed.

PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at a desk and in meetings for long periods of time on a continuous basis; intermittently twist to reach equipment surrounding desk; perform simple grasping and fine manipulation with fingers; reach with hands and arms; use a telephone or other electronic communication devices; stand for long periods of times at counter, printers; communicate orally and through written means; use standard office equipment such as computers, printers; write or use a keyboard to perform assigned duties; bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist while checking equipment; occasionally stand and/or walk over both even and uneven ground; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; hearing and vision within normal ranges with or without correction.
