Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System is seeking a Financial Advocate to serve as a liaison between Revenue Site Operations and Patient Financial Services. The role focuses on determining patient liability and arranging financial assistance or payment plans. Shift is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, at multiple Ohio locations.

The ideal candidate counsels patients on treatment costs, insurance, and payment options, and documents arrangements. Experience with Medicaid applications is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years experience in Patient Access or Patient Accounting for hospital registration or reimbursement services.
• Certification in HFMA CRCR and/or NAHAM CHAA required within one year of hire.
• Understanding of basic billing and coding.

Responsibilities

• Counsels patients on cost of treatment, insurance benefits, resources for payment and financial assistance.

• Audits bills for accuracy and edits front-end inaccuracies to increase collections and decrease write-offs.

Position Purpose:

• Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
• Location: St.Anns - 500 S Cleveland Ave, Westerville, OH 43081 and Dublin - 4105 Emerald Pkwy, Dublin,OH43016, open to assist other Mount Carmel Hospital as needed
  

What You Will Do:

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED. Minimum two (2) to three (3) years experience working in Patient Access or Patient Accounting for hospital registration and / or hospital reimbursement services
• Obtain National certification in HFMA CRCR and/or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire.
• Understanding of basic billing and coding.
