POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Counselor at Borland Groover is a part of the Patient Access department. The general duty of this position is to provide cost estimations to patients for balances owed to the clinic/ASCs and to provide patients with an Estimate Worksheet for procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Verify benefits and/or eligibility of patients that are scheduled to be seen.
• Take incoming calls from patients and answer benefits and/or financial responsibility questions.
• Make outgoing calls to patients to review financial estimates and/or balances for scheduled office appointments and/or procedures and testing.
• Email or mail financial estimates to patients as required or requested.
• Speak to patients about their account and balance, and schedule or reschedule appointments as needed.
• Make outgoing calls to insurance companies and check online to determine patient benefits and eligibility.
• Complete payment arrangements for patients when necessary.
• Make outgoing follow-up calls to patients making monthly payments.
• Adjust patient accounts by adding or updating insurances and /or billing the insurance company.
• Assist the satellite office personnel with insurance or financial estimation comprehension as needed.
• Answer nurse or patient portal inquiries assigned to the department.
• Requires access to Personal Health Information (PHI), HIPAA training is required, and HIPAA compliance is expected.
• Must follow the organization’s Code of Conduct
• Must participate in the Compliance Program Initiatives and reporting and Compliance Issues
• Handle all other duties as assigned.
