Former athletes and competitors know what it takes to show up every day, push through setbacks, and compete to win — and those same qualities make for exceptional financial advisors. At Northwestern Mutual – San Marcos, our vision is to have an impact on every life in South Central Texas. Our mission is simple: inspiring action, maximizing potential, and building legacies — guided by our values of innovation, gratitude, excellence, and transparency. Whether you're a former college athlete, a competitor at heart, or someone who's always brought a competitive mindset to everything you do, you'll find a team here that speaks your language.
We're proud to support our community through organizations like Dell Children's Hospital and Alex's Lemonade Stand.

Northwestern Mutual is a FORTUNE 500 company that provides a wide range of financial services for more than 5 million people. As a mutual company, we answer to our policyowners — not Wall Street. We began in Wisconsin in 1857, and today we're one of America's top companies, recognized by FORTUNE as one of the "World's Most Admired" companies in 2024, with a unique culture deeply dedicated to helping people achieve financial security.
We're proud to be recognized as one of the fastest-growing Network offices in the country, home to the #1 intern in the country for Summer Camp in 2022, a Top 40 University office for Texas State within Northwestern Mutual, and the #2 Financial Advisor in the Southern Region for 2024.
The discipline, resilience, and competitive drive you built through athletics translate directly into a career in financial services. What matters here isn't your playbook — it's your ability to set goals and chase them, bounce back from a loss, build real relationships, and outwork the competition. Our own team is built on that same mindset: Ty Terrazone served as a fighter pilot in the US Air Force and captains the Austin Blacks Rugby Team. Luke Borst competes in CrossFit and Hyrox and plays Husker football. Brian Vrana coaches his sons' baseball teams and brings that same competitive energy to leading the office. This is a team that trains, competes, and wins together.
With Northwestern Mutual for 23 years, Brian got his start through the internship program in college after growing up farming. Outside the office, he's passionate about family — especially coaching his sons' baseball teams and watching his daughter compete in dance.
With Northwestern Mutual for 10 years, Luke previously spent five years in business development for First National Bank of Omaha. Outside the office, he loves traveling with his family, going to movies with his daughters Hattie and Ada, Husker football, and CrossFit and Hyrox competitions.
With Northwestern Mutual for 4 years, Ty brings a background as a fighter pilot for the US Air Force, captain of the Austin Blacks Rugby Team, and a former recruiter for Indeed. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his two kids, Tori and Kyler, along with trivia, sports, whiskey, and movies.
If you're ready to see how your competitive drive translates into a career in financial services, we'd love to start a conversation.
Northwestern Mutual is the marketing name for The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company (NM) and its subsidiaries in Milwaukee, WI. Luke Borst is a General Agent of NM and is not in legal partnership with NM, or its subsidiaries.
