Job summary

The Port Authority of NY & NJ is seeking a Supervising Financial Analyst in the Management & Budget Department (MBD). You will oversee resources for TB&T, PATH, and Major Capital Programs, analyze budgets, and supervise Budget Analysts while coordinating with multiple departments.

The role focuses on reviewing annual budgets, consolidations in BudgetPro, and presenting monthly performance to executives. Remote work up to one day per week is allowed; strong analytical and leadership skills are

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field or 5 years of finance, budgeting, or analytics experience.
  • 3+ years of complex financial analysis, budgeting, and/or operational analyses and supervisory or project management experience.
  • Excellent data and financial analysis skills with ability to identify problems and propose solutions.
  • Strong presentation skills, able to communicate financial information clearly.
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint to analyze, track, persuade, or recommend.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and analyze each Department’s annual Budget submissions with client departments to ensure alignment with guidance and objectives.
  • Ensure proper consolidation of budgets in BudgetPro and assist in preparing Budget Book and presentations for Board and executives.
  • Review and present monthly financial performance including operating expenses, revenues, activity trends, and workload hours to highlight variances and propose actions.
  • Lead a team in reviewing and presenting agency authorization documents and staffing assessments to ensure optimal resource use.
  • Collaborate with internal and external departments to develop Budget recommendations, ensure accurate accounting transactions, and monitor impact of economic conditions.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
Advanced data and financial analysis skills
Excellent oral and written presentation skills
