Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking a Finance Analyst to contribute to long-term forecasting, scenario analysis, and performance benchmarking. You will work with senior staff to develop models and provide financial insights.

The role emphasizes strong Excel skills, PowerBI and ERP experience, and proactive collaboration with customers and internal teams to support strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of technical and/or professional experience; MBA or certifications may count toward experience.
  • Degree in accounting, economics, finance, or related area preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with PowerBI, Snowflake, and ERP systems are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and modify financial models for long-term forecasts and analysis under guidance.
  • Analyze financial data/trends and compare forecast to actual results.
  • Communicate financial information clearly to internal and external partners.
  • Support business planning including scenario analysis, benchmarking, and risk assessment.
  • Provide financial consulting to customers to help achieve business goals.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to drive efficiency.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Participates in maintaining and modifying financial models to generate business unit level long‑term forecasts or analysis with direction from a senior/lead.
  • Participates in analysis of financial data/trends including comparing forecast to actual results.
  • Effectively communicates (verbally and written) financial information to internal and external partners in a concise and simplified manner. Actively listens to other alternative ideas and views.
  • Participates in business planning and support analysis including economic scenario analysis, performance benchmarking, opportunity and risk assessment and research projects with direction from a senior/lead.
  • Proactively works with customers to provide financial consulting to help achieve business goals.
  • Seeks opportunities for different and innovative ways to address issues or problems.
  • Effectively supports and adapts to change in the workplace.
  • May be involved in/responsible for assisting in developing rate review filing documents.
  • Participates in operational improvements and automation activities to drive efficiencies within department.
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s values and helps deliver on our purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Required Qualifications
  • 3 years of technical and/or professional experience. (MBA or professional certifications may be considered for a portion of professional work experience).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting, economics, finance, or a related area.
  • Strong Excel skills preferred.
  • Experience with PowerBI, Snowflake, and ERP systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proven general knowledge of financial modeling and financial planning.
  • Knowledge of common financial software applications.
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
