Job summary

Transamerica in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Finance - General accountant to perform accounting, financial reporting and analysis, applying IFRS knowledge to routine activities.

You will extract data, consolidate reports, support monthly and quarterly close, and collaborate across departments while adhering to internal controls. Hybrid work arrangement (in-office Tue-Thu) with competitive compensation and bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent work experience.
• Up to 2 years of experience, with degree.
• Advanced computer skills. Base knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Performs professional financial analysis work based mainly on IFRS, including extracting financial data from various systems and consolidating data.
• Analyze, test and verify information compiled is correct and reasonable based on accounting knowledge.
• Respond to requests from management and other departments.
• Understand flow of information and troubleshoot problems.
• Participate in monthly and quarterly accounting processes to ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Explain how analysis was produced and reported to others.
• Update and consolidate financial reports for forecasting and trends.
• Support business unit reporting needs and corporate reporting duties.
• Assist with project work and may serve on divisional project teams.
• Adhere to the company’s internal controls framework.
• Improve procedures and documentation of reporting processes.
