Job summary

Kraken Kinetics in Pinehurst, NC seeks a Financial Analyst to produce accurate financial reports and support operational decision-making. You will collaborate with the Head of Finance and cross-functional teams to deliver timely insights and robust forecasting.

The role focuses on cash flow forecasting, cost analysis, and revenue recognition, with exposure to Power BI and ERP systems. A growth-stage environment requires strong multitasking and clear communication of financial data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or related role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling).
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly/monthly financial reports including cost summaries and variance analysis.
• Assist in building and maintaining a cash flow forecast model.
• Generate DSO, AR aging, and cash collection reports for leadership review.
• Develop and maintain spend plans to track budget execution and forecast remaining obligations.
• Perform cost analysis and financial modeling to support business decisions and operating plans.
• Track actuals vs. budget across active programs and product lines.
• Assist in EAC development and variance root-cause analysis.
• Support cost pooling, overhead monitoring, and cost reconciliation.
• Coordinate with operations and program teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and billing.
• Support timekeeping accuracy and labor charge validation.
• Support data analytics and dashboard development (Power BI) to track KPIs and deliver ad hoc reporting.

POSITION SUMMARY

Location: On-site at our Pinehurst, NC area facility

Financial Analyst at Kraken Kinetics will work closely with the Head of Finance and cross-functional teams to produce accurate financial reports to support operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare weekly/monthly financial reports including cost summaries and variance analysis
• Assist in building and maintaining a cash flow forecast model
• Generate DSO, AR aging, and cash collection reports for leadership review
• Develop and maintain spend plans to track budget execution and forecast remaining obligations
• Perform cost analysis and financial modeling to support business decisions and operating plans

Program & Operational Finance

• Track actuals vs. budget across active programs and product lines
• Assist in Estimate at Completion (EAC) development and variance root-cause analysis
• Support cost pool tracking, overhead monitoring, and cost reconciliation
• Coordinate with operations and program teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and billing
• Support timekeeping accuracy and labor charge validation
• Support data analytics and dashboard development (e.g., Power BI) to track KPIs and deliver ad hoc reporting
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in financial reporting and processes

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a related role
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling)
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a high degree of attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders

Preferred

• Experience in manufacturing, defense, or other product-driven industry
• Experience with ERP systems such as QuickBooks, Fishbowl, SAP, Costpoint or similar platforms
• Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau

SALARY & BENEFITS

Kraken Kinetics is committed to offering a competitive compensation package to attract and retain top talent. This full-time, on-site exempt position offers an annual salary range of $70,000-$85,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
