Job Title: Financial Analyst (Corporate Investment Risk Assessment)

Work Place Flexibility: Hybrid

*This position may be filled as a Financial Analyst III, Lead or Senior Lead based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.*

Job Summary/Purpose:

The Financial Analyst position is responsible for supporting project teams and project leaders in the analysis, evaluation, and review of corporate transactions that are subject to the company’s Investment Approval Process (IAP).

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Partners with business units (BUs) to understand commercial and technical aspects of projects/transactions being considered for approval to ensure that all material risks have been identified/mitigated to the extent possible, and overall documentation is complete and accurate.
  2. Facilitates/coordinates activities with subject matter experts (SMEs) and project teams across the company in the analysis, compilation, organization, and assessment of strengths and weaknesses/risks related to various aspects (financial, operational, legal, governance, etc.) of potential transactions and/or investment opportunities being considered by BUs.
  3. Reviews complex analyses, proposals, presentations, financial models, negotiation strategies and transaction terms and conditions, and related work for the IAP.
  4. Partners with BUs and project teams to develop and/or review analyses and models for project economics and valuations; provides guidance and training.
  5. Identifies and performs necessary updates to models and related processes. Helps to ensure that model output remains accurate.
  6. Supports the Post Investment Review (PIR) process to ensure project outcomes align with project objectives.
  7. Coordinates with BUs and reviewers of the Board reporting process for the Board meetings.
  8. Leads and supports special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Minimum education and experience required of the position:

  1. Financial Analyst III: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field, and 3+ years of experience in business, finance, project development/management, risk analysis, process improvement or related fields is required; in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 7+ years of experience in business, finance, project development/management, risk analysis, process improvement or related fields is required.
  2. Financial Analyst Lead: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field, and 5+ years of experience in business, finance, project development/management, risk analysis, process improvement or related fields is required; in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 9+ years of experience in business, finance, project development/management, risk analysis, process improvement or related fields is required.
  3. Financial Analyst Sr Lead: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field, and 7+ years of experience in business, finance, project development/management, risk analysis, process improvement or related fields is required; in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 11+ years of experience in business, finance, project development/management, risk analysis, process improvement or related fields is required.
  4. MBA is a plus.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:

  1. Good analytical capabilities.
  2. Working knowledge of financial valuation practices.
  3. Ability to understand complex financial transactions.
  4. Ability to understand complex legal documents and/or language.
  5. Ability to create/understand financial models as needed (Discounted Cash Flows-DCF) to evaluate information and be able to explain the results.
  6. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple time-sensitive projects effectively.
  7. Knowledge of project management and/or process improvement best practices.
  8. Ability to work in a hybrid work environment (partly in office and partly from home/remote).

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position:

  1. CPA, CFA, PE, PMP or similar certificates/licenses are a plus.
