Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a junior accountant to help prepare monthly and annual financial statements and to support GAAP compliance across hospital operations.

You will assist in budgeting analytics, revenue by payer analysis, and balance sheet reviews, while collaborating with management on financial decisions and regulatory reporting requirements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing Hospital financial statements with GAAP compliance.
• Prepare and analyze operating budgets, statistics, revenue by payer, and balance sheets.
• Support regulatory reporting including IRS, state/cost reports, and audits.
• Assist in ensuring audit readiness with work papers and analyses.
• Provide financial analysis support to managers for cost and budgeting decisions.
• Collaborate to establish best practices in financial analysis and documentation.

Summary

Responsible for preparing monthly and annual financial statements, supporting analysis and supplemental schedules.

Assists in implementing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles on all financial statements.

Supports the Senior Financial Analysts and Finance Management Team in preparing for special projects.

Acts as a Finance representative on committees and at meetings as necessary.

Position Responsibilities

• Assists with preparing the Hospital and or related entity of Virtua Health Financial Statements with GAAP compliance. Including Service Group Analysis and Cash Flow Analysis, which are reviewed by Senior Management and Virtua Health Board of Trustees.
• Prepares and assists in the analysis of financial data. I.E. Operating budget detail, statistics, revenue by payer, expense, cash analysis, balance sheets and provides support to Operational Leadership.
• Assists in preparing and analyzing financial data for Regulatory Agencies including Federal and State. I.E. IRS 990 tax exempt return, NJ Charitable Registration, Medicare, Medicaid, and State Cost Reports, Bond Compliance, AHA Surveys, etc.
• Assists in ensuring audit compliance through preparation of work papers and analysis for internal and external auditors.
• Provides financial analysis assistance to Managers in order for them to adequately monitor operating expenses, budgeting, balance sheet, capital expenditures and/or cost/benefit or other analysis of existing or proposed services with Decision Support System Tools.
• Collaborates with staff to create best practice standards for financial analysis and documentation.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required

• Zero to three years in general accounting experience to include financial statement preparation.
• Must possess knowledge and understanding of accounting practice and theory, specifically Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Ability to work independently to achieve goals and prioritize work assignments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Must have a working knowledge of Windows, Word, and Excel.

Required Education

BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and CPA / MBA preferred.

Annual Salary: $59,559 - $92,649The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
