Financial & Data Analyst
We are seeking a Financial & Data Analyst to help maintain core financial practices while driving continuous improvement through analytics, technology, and strategic decision support.
This role goes beyond classic accounting. You will bridge the gap between financial record-keeping and data engineering—extracting, validating, structuring, and visualizing key operational metrics. As our systems become more streamlined, your day-to-day work will naturally evolve from routine data preparation toward advanced problem-solving, predictive modeling, and strategic partnership across the business.
Core Mission
- Ensure Integrity: Maintain accurate, verifiable, and well-controlled financial records.
- Unlock Insights: Turn raw organizational metrics into clear, actionable business guidance.
- Modernize Execution: Continually streamline, automate, and refine internal workflows.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advanced Analytics & Business Intelligence
- Extract, clean, aggregate, and analyze data from multiple enterprise systems to establish single-source-of-truth datasets.
- Build intuitive dashboards and visual reports to help stakeholders quickly grasp performance metrics.
- Design robust, scalable analytical models to evaluate trends, highlight operational risks, and identify growth opportunities.
- Investigate unexpected variance between reported figures and underlying operational drivers to root cause.
- Build reusable analytical frameworks rather than relying on one-off manual spreadsheets.
- Maintain rigorous standards for data governance, documentation, and quality control.
2. Business Support & Strategic Decision-Making
- Conduct operational variance analyses and assess profitability across various products, services, or customer segments.
- Evaluate cost drivers, operational expenditure, and capital utilization across different business units.
- Support periodic forecasting, budgeting, and scenario-based planning initiatives.
- Build business cases, pricing tools, and financial models to evaluate commercial decisions.
- Translate complex data into plain-language findings for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
3. Financial Oversight & Core Accounting
- Execute key month-end close workflows, including general ledger entries, accruals, and ledger reconciliations.
- Support routine asset management, expenditure tracking, and transactional reconciliation processes.
- Audit account activity and investigate unusual or inconsistent transactions.
- Assist with internal controls implementation, compliance documentation, and audit request fulfillment.
- Ensure financial records conform to reporting standards, accuracy guidelines, and operational timelines.
- Maintain cross-functional coverage for critical finance and compliance tasks.
4. Process Automation & System Optimization
- Identify repetitive manual routines across accounting and reporting and convert them into automated workflows.
- Standardize and document manual processes as a prerequisite to building tech-enabled solutions.
- Collaborate with IT and Systems teams to upgrade enterprise software, BI tools, and data pipelines.
- Explore practical applications of AI, low-code tools, and automation software to improve efficiency.
- Shift error correction upstream by addressing root-cause data issues directly at the source system.
Operating Principles
- End-to-End Ownership: Proactively follow issues through to complete resolution rather than passing off incomplete tasks.
- Critical Inquiry: Regularly ask why a workflow exists in its current form and challenge legacy, low-value practices.
- Balance & Speed: Maintain high standards of accuracy while acting with urgency and pragmatic focus.
- Adaptability: Transition seamlessly between detailed ledger mechanics and high-level strategic data views.
Candidate Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong baseline knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles, and business metrics.
- Direct experience in finance, accounting, data analysis, or auditing.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel / spreadsheet modeling.
- Proven aptitude for learning new technologies, database structures, and system workflows.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor message to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with modern ERP systems, business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), or database querying (SQL).
- Familiarity with low-code automation tools, data transformation frameworks, or emerging AI productivity tools.
- Exposure to multi-variable financial modeling, unit economics, or cost accounting.
