Job summary

Edgewater Federal Solutions in the Washington, DC area seeks a Financial Analyst to support the FP&A team with financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and data analysis. Hybrid work is available; on-site in Reston, VA or Frederick, MD may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or related field.
  • Internship or coursework in finance, accounting, pricing or government contracting is helpful but not required.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with dashboarding tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting packages.
  • Support annual operating plan, budgeting, and reforecasting activities.
  • Analyze revenue, labor, subcontractor, and indirect cost data for trends and risks.
  • Maintain financial models for backlog, revenue forecasting, cash flow and profitability.
  • Prepare dashboards and reports using Excel, Power BI, and other tools.
  • Support project reviews, including funded backlog, burn rate, and margin analysis.
  • Assist with indirect rate calculations, monitoring, and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Accounting during monthly close to validate results.
  • Provide financial insights to Program Managers and leaders for decisions.
  • Improve financial processes through automation and data quality initiatives.

Overview

The Financial Analyst will support Edgewater's Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team through financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, data analysis, and program financial support. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to develop expertise in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), government contracting, project finance, and executive reporting.

The position will be performed within a hybrid environment. However, candidates will only be considered within the Washington, DC metropolitan area and must be able to work on-site in either Reston, VA or Frederick, MD when requested.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting packages.
  • Support annual operating plan (AOP), budgeting, and reforecasting activities across the organization.
  • Analyze revenue, labor, subcontractor, and indirect cost data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Maintain and update financial models supporting backlog, revenue forecasting, cash flow, and profitability analysis.
  • Prepare dashboards and reports using Excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools.
  • Support project and program financial reviews, including funded backlog, burn rate, margin, and utilization analysis.
  • Assist with indirect rate calculations, monitoring, and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with Accounting during monthly close to validate financial results and explain variances.
  • Partner with Program Managers and business leaders to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Help improve financial processes through automation, reporting enhancements, and data quality initiatives.
  • Support special projects including acquisitions, contract pricing, investment analyses, and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare clear and concise analyses, presentations, and executive summaries for leadership reviews.
  • Maintain organized backup documentation and support files for program forecasts and reporting.
  • Learn government contracting and apply Edgewater's finance and project controls processes while taking on increasing responsibility over time.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior internship, coursework, or limited professional experience in finance, accounting, pricing, project controls, or government contracting is helpful but not required.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; Exposure to PowerBI, Tableau or other similar dashboarding tools
  • Eagerness to work extensively with financial models, dashboards, and data sets.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to check work for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a desire to understand the "why" behind financial results.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work with Finance, Pricing, Operations, and Program Management personnel.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize financial information in a simple and organized way.
  • Interest in learning government contracting finance, including project financial reporting, contract types, labor planning, and indirect rates.
Salary

$70.000 - $80,000
