Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in Lake County, IL seeks a Financial Analyst to provide FP&A support to Global Procurement Services. You will oversee financial processes, analytics, and support strategic business decisions.

Responsibilities include month-end close, variance analysis, forecasting, consolidations, and ad hoc analyses. Strong Excel/SAP/Hyperion skills and an ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in financial planning, analysis and accounting.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, variance analysis skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills; ability to synthesize complex, technical issues and summarize with clarity.
• Ability to manage many competing priorities in a pressurized environment.

• Develop forecasts and prepare supporting analytics for payroll and other key projects.

• Assist with materials for the annual Plan presentation to VP, Global Procurement, Corporate Controller and CFO.
• Drive improvements and simplifications in financial and business processes.
• Work independently and in groups in analytical settings.

The Opportunity

We have an immediate opportunity for a Financial Analyst in our LakeCounty, AbbottPark, IL location.

The Financial Analyst provides FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis) support to the Global Procurement Services organization. Oversees financial processes and activities and provides analytics to support strategic business decisions.

What You’ll Work On:

• This position supports Global Procurement and reports to the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis.
• Support month end close and LBE processes.
• Complete variance analysis and commentary for LBE and month end submissions.
• Develop forecasts and prepare supporting analytics for key budget items such as payroll and other key projects.
• Complete consolidations and reporting of monthly actuals and LBE.
• Identify risks and opportunities and work with leadership team to bring insights forward.
• Provide ad hoc analysis to support key projects or other related activities as required.
• Assist with analysis and preparation of materials for the annual Plan for presentation to Vice President, Global Procurement, Corporate Controller and CFO.
• Drive continuous improvements and simplifications in financial and business processes.
• Work both independently and in groups in a variety of situations requiring analytical and critical thinking skills.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and work experience 2-4 years experience in financial planning, analysis and accounting.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, variance analysis skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills; ability to synthesize complex, technical issues and summarize with clarity.
• Ability to manage many competing priorities and execute in a pressurized environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient with financial modeling, systems, and other tools including Excel, Hyperion Essbase and SAP.
