Job summary

West Coast University is seeking a Financial Aid Counselor in Richardson, TX to guide students and families through the costs of attendance and aid options. You will review documents, verify ISIR data, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional rules.

In-person counseling is available for those who cannot complete online steps. You will help students request FSA IDs, complete FAFSAs and MPNs, and maintain accurate electronic files, contributing to their educational journey and

Qualifications

• Provide information on costs of attendance and available financial aid options.
• Review documentation and update the student file, scanning documents.
• Verify ISIR data, resolve discrepancies, and document actions.
• Assist with obtaining FSA User IDs and completing FAFSAs, MPNs, and loan counseling.
• Provide in-person loan counseling for students unable to complete online counseling.

Responsibilities

• Address discrepant information and document resolutions in the student file.
• Process ISIR data and request verifications as needed; document outcomes.

Job description

Come care with us at West Coast University where you will meet with students and prospective students to provide information on financial aid and options that can help them develop a financial plan for achieving their healthcare career goals. In addition, you will put your technical financial aid skills to work ensuring proper eligibility and processing in accordance with federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations. You will make an impact by:

• Meeting with students and prospective students to provide information regarding costs of attendance, available financial aid options, and student loan counseling.
• Reviewing documentation, forms and other information provided by students to ensure accuracy and completeness, update electronic student file appropriately based on information received, and scan documents into Image Now.
• Reviewing student records to ensure any discrepant or conflicting information is appropriately resolved, and documents same.
• Reviewing ISIR data to ensure c-codes are appropriately resolved and required verification items are requested, and document actions or resolutions are fully in the student electronic file.
• Assisting students and parents with directions for requesting FSA User IDs, and online completion of FAFSAs (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), MPNs (Master Promissory Notes), and online student loan entrance and exist counseling.
• Providing in-person student loan counseling for those who are unable to complete online counseling.

Your Experience Includes:

• Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a customer service provider in a professional environment.
• Ability to demonstrate the highest levels of integrity and professional ethics in all aspects of the job function.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills through active listening and delivery of information clearly and effectively.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills, with a professional, helpful, and positive demeanor.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University is preferred. Experienced candidates will be considered without a degree provided they have more than 4 years of financial aid experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

• May not be in default on a federal student loan or owe repayment on a federal grant.
