Job summary

Herzing University in Miami is seeking a Financial Aid Advisor to support students through the financial aid process. The role involves counseling, packaging, processing, and awarding funds, with opportunities for growth through our On-the-Job Training Program.

Strong customer service, organization, and knowledge of Title IV funds are essential. On-site work with occasional weekend hours and a comprehensive benefits package including tuition waiver is offered.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with new students to understand funding needs, provide guidance on completion of the FAFSA and required documents, and review eligibility for funding options including Federal Title IV funds, scholarships, state funding, and military funds.
  • Utilize financial aid software to review student documents and eligibility criteria to finalize financial aid awards.
  • Provide gap funding options to students and support students in determining the best option to meet their financial needs and support their educational goals.
  • Counsel students on financial literacy and wellness topics for the purpose of educating and encouraging responsible borrowing practices.
  • Manage a student caseload, striving to build relationships and support students in resolving all matters related to their financial aid funding.
  • Perform regular outreach to students requiring action including needed documents, loan acceptance, and past due balances.
  • Revise financial aid award packages due to updates such as changes in course schedules, approved breaks, eligibility changes, and other factors.

Job description

Overview:
A40-hourschedule will bedeterminedbased on business needs Monday-Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm with one later shift, scheduled scheduled until 6pm. There will be the occasional need for weekend hours.

The Financial Aid Advisor supports Herzing University’s mission through administration of financial aid funding for the University’s students. This role requires strong customer service and attention to detail. This individual may work directly with students, providing counseling and assistance on all aspects of the financial aid process, or the individual may work to package, process, and award financial aid funds.

Financial Advisors receive onboarding support through our On-the-Job Training Program and have opportunity for growth by means of our Career Pathways.

Compensation is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan with company match. The hourly pay range for this position is $20.54 to $27.78 (Associate level) or $21.74 to $29.41(Advisor level).
