Hours: Monday - Friday: 8AM-5PM (Additional hours as necessary to meet the objectives of the department)

Function

Assumes a leadership role in the development of new business in the brokerage, employee benefit and fixed/variable insurance services as offered through the independent broker dealer. Provides functional guidance and training of less experienced officers, licensed assistants, and other bank personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Initiates contacts for developing and closing brokerage services accounts by calling on existing bank customers identified through the internal referral program.
  • During customer meetings, explains the bank’s brokerage services, discusses the advantages of proper planning, and obtains the necessary information to make sound financial recommendations.
  • Coaches retail employees on the features and benefits of brokerage services products offered to their customers.
  • Provides employees with scripts or other means to assist them in directing referrals of existing bank customers to the Financial Planner.
  • Plans and coordinates outside business development opportunities such as seminars, mailings, and other special programs.
  • Maintains Series 7, Series 66 (or 63 and 65) and PA Life, Accident, and Health Insurance Licenses.
  • Manages and mentors fully licensed sales assistants working within the Brokerage Services area.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with external referral sources such as accountants, attorneys, and social acquaintances.
  • Maintains a high quality of professional advice by completing industry mandated continuing education requirements.
  • Participates in community activities to enhance the image of the Bank.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with all bank employees.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and the organization.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
Education

Requires a four-year college degree or equivalent.

Required Licenses

FINRA Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65) PA. Life Accident and Health Insurance.

Experience

Five to ten years of general and specialized experience, specifically up to 10 years of investment-related experience plus continuing study and education working toward one of several designations (e.g., CFP, ChFC, CW, CEBS).

Physical Demands
  • Operates a keypad device: 40% of the day.
  • Travels: 40% of the day.
  • Standing: 10% of the day – branch training/meeting customer.
  • Sitting: 80% of the day – during sales presentations/customer meetings and preparing and research.
  • Walking: 10% of the day.
  • Routinely lifts 5 lbs. 2-3 times per day.
  • Uses manual dexterity skills for typing and data entry up to 40% of the business day.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18”–20” for computer work and travel.
