Job summary

Baseten is seeking a Finance Systems Lead to own and evolve the systems that support our finance operations, including ERP, planning tools, HRIS/payroll, CPQ, and commissions. You will lead implementations, drive integrations, and automate workflows as we scale.

You’ll partner with Accounting, FP&A, People, Sales, Legal, and IT to design workflows that serve teams while reducing manual work. This role requires in‑person presence 3+ days weekly in SF/NY.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in finance systems, business systems, or related systems administration role.
• Experience implementing or administering a financial planning tool.
• Experience integrating systems across finance and adjacent functions (HRIS/payroll, CPQ/commissions).
• Strong technical aptitude with automation and workflow building; ability to direct contractors or vendor CSMs on configuration.

Responsibilities

• Own finance systems strategy, configuration, and roadmap; working with contractors on hands‑on configuration.
• Lead the implementation and ongoing administration of our finance systems and tools, including integrations end‑to‑end.
• Partner across HRIS/payroll, CPQ/commissions, and ERP to ensure accurate data flows and aligned workflows.

THE ROLE

We're looking for a Finance Systems Lead to own and evolve the systems that support Baseten's finance operations, including ERP, planning tools, and the broader finance and adjacent systems stack, spanning HRIS/payroll, CPQ, and commissions, as we implement, integrate, and automate across them.

As Baseten scales, so does the number of systems finance depends on and touches, from the ERP to planning to compensation and quote to cash tooling. This role exists to bring a dedicated owner to that stack, someone who can lead implementations (partnering with contractors or vendor CSMs for hands‑on technical configuration where needed), keep systems integrated and clean as we grow, and find automation opportunities that save the team time.

This is a highly cross‑functional role. You will partner with Accounting, FP&A, People, Sales and Revenue Operations, Legal, and IT to understand how each team uses its systems, and design integrations and workflows that serve the business without creating more manual work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Finance Systems

• Own finance systems strategy, configuration, and roadmap, partnering with contractors or vendor CSMs on hands‑on technical configuration as needed

• Lead the implementation and ongoing administration of our finance systems and tools

• Own finance system integrations end to end, ensuring clean data flow between ERP, planning, billing, and other systems, partnering with contractors or vendor CSMs on hands‑on technical configuration as needed

Cross‑Functional Systems

• Partner with People on HRIS and payroll systems, ensuring accurate data flow between HRIS, payroll, and ERP

• Partner with Sales and Revenue Operations on CPQ and commission systems, ensuring pricing, quoting, and commission calculations tie cleanly back to billing and revenue recognition

• Serve as a systems thought partner across finance‑adjacent tools, even in areas where another team owns day to day administration

Automation and Process Improvement

• Identify and build automation across manual finance workflows, from data reconciliation to reporting, partnering with the Data Analytics team where relevant

• Evaluate new tools and system enhancements as the company scales, and build the business case for investment

• Document system architecture and workflows so institutional knowledge does not live in one person's head

Governance and Controls

• Manage system access, permissions, and controls in partnership with Accounting and IT

• Support audit requests related to systems and automated controls

REQUIREMENTS

• 7+ years of experience in finance systems, business systems, or related systems administration role

• Experience implementing or administering a financial planning tool

• Experience integrating systems across finance and adjacent functions, such as HRIS/payroll or CPQ/commissions

• Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to build automation and workflows and to direct contractors or vendor CSMs on hands‑on configuration work

• Strong cross‑functional partnership skills, able to work with Accounting, FP&A, People, Sales and Revenue Operations, and Legal to design systems and workflows that serve each team's needs

• Comfortable operating as a systems generalist across a broad stack, not a single‑tool specialist

• Based in San Francisco or New York, with the ability to work in‑person 3+ days per week

NICE TO HAVES
