Job summary

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Finance or Accounting degree at an accredited college.
  • Currently a Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior at hire time.
  • Enrollment at an accredited college or university at hire time.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Process asset accounting activities for Manufacturing facilities in the Detroit area.
  • Provide accounting support for asset capitalization, transfers, disposals, and life adjustments.
  • Manage asset master records and changes for assigned groups.
  • Coordinate month-end closing with external accounting services.
  • Maintain internal controls over asset accounting and perform analyses as needed.
  • Prepare monthly accrual JVs to report period costs.
  • Handle ad hoc assignments for Manufacturing Finance.

Job description

STUDENT PROGRAM FORMAT

This student program will follow a model where students may work remotely during the school year and in-person during the summer. When in-person, students will be based at the Stellantis Headquarters & Technology Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan or a manufacturing facility in the metro Detroit area. Students are expected to work 24 hours per week, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. Candidates who are selected for the program will work with their manager to determine a consistent weekly work schedule where candidates fulfill the 24-hour requirement, while balancing their class schedule. During the summer months, students may potentially work 40 hours per week. This determination will be at management’s discretion. Student program cohorts start on a quarterly basis in January, April, June, and September, and students are intended to stay in the program until graduation.

Students will be assigned to a department based on the candidate's background and skill set. The assignments are project-oriented, meaningful to the department, and allow the student to provide valuable contributions. Students experience a sense of personal accomplishment and learn about the corporate business culture through work assignments, structured activities, and exclusive student networking events.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

The Stellantis Finance Student Program allows individuals to gain experience and exposure across the many different facets of a strategic enterprise. Within the program, students will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with people who work together as a team to continually think bigger and bolder.Students will gain industry experience, interface with various levels within Finance, and apply their coursework to drive results.

Overview:

Working in a manufacturing facility is a very dynamic environment where you will work collaboratively with other financial analysts and cross-functional team members. A large portion of a typical day is spent on the plant floor interacting with various departments in a team environment trying to resolve current operating issues.

This position is responsible for:

  • Working as part of a team responsible for the accurate and timely processing of asset accounting activities for Manufacturing facilities in the greater Detroit area
  • Providing accounting support to operating and finance staffs for asset capitalization, transfers, and disposals, asset reuse and useful life adjustments
  • Controlling asset master record creation as well as asset master changes for assigned operating groups
  • Coordinating and monitoring month end closing activities performed by external accounting services provider for assigned plants
  • Maintaining compliance with internal controls over asset accounting
  • Performing analysis, reporting and studies as required by leadership
  • Prepare monthly accrual JV's to accurately report period costs
  • Ad hoc assignments as needed by Manufacturing Finance

What you’ll learn:

  • How to drive SOX control, manage annual asset audits, perform annual physical inventories
  • M&E Acquire to Retire asset management process utilized at Stellantis
  • The monthly asset close process and all areas that impact it
  • How to navigate and use multiple modules (FI, CO, AA, MM, PS) within the PSAP system
  • How multiple organizations interact with asset accounting
  • Monitor and maintain SOX compliance for the location
  • Building a foundation of in-depth knowledge of FCA financial and manufacturing processes
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher majoring in Finance, Accounting, or similar discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Currently a Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior at an accredited college or university at the time of hire
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university at the time of hire
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint & Excel
  • Ability to work 24 hours per week, year-round
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous internship or accounting/finance related work experience
  • Good working knowledge of accounting principles, methods and techniques
  • Strong interest in the automotive industry and new technologies
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various organization levels and with external partners
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and achieve goals in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven leadership in academic pursuits, extracurricular activities, or service organizations
