Backed by premier private equity firms and headquartered in New York with 11 offices around the globe, we are a high-growth, entrepreneurial firm looking for people who want to be part of building something great. Come make your mark.

Role Overview

Accordion is seeking a Finance & Strategy Associate to join our growing internal Finance team, with a focus on the company’s strategic growth, both organic and inorganic. This new hire will report to the VP of Finance and be deeply involved in the strategic planning and operational initiatives of the company. In addition, this person will work closely with the firm’s Executive Leadership, cross-functionally with other areas of business operations (Business Development, Consulting Ops, HR, Marketing), and with the firm’s consulting practice leaders. You will play a key role in developing the insights driving the continued high growth of Accordion and have a chance to leave your mark on Accordion’s continued evolution.

This position must be based in our New York office and is a hybrid role. Candidates will need to be local to the area with the flexibility to work remotely 2-3 days a week, blending the best of both worlds for efficiency and collaboration.

What You’ll Do:
  • Provide the analysis to inform key strategic decisions about growth, including potential business line expansions, acquisitions, and other growth opportunities.
  • Analyze current and past trends in financial and operational key performance indicators and provide actionable insights.
  • Support the annual budget process through financial modeling, development of assumptions and coordination with practice leaders and other members of management.
  • Manage the preparation and continued improvement of financial and operating reports for management and the board of directors.
  • Act as a business partner to support practice leaders by providing data, analysis, and insights.
  • Help to manage the company’s liquidity through preparation of cash flow forecasts and modeling of debt covenants.
  • Complete ad-hoc analytical requests to support both Finance and other areas of the company.
You Have:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or economics.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in private equity and/or investment banking
  • Advanced Excel skills, with a focus on financial modeling and data analysis.
  • A high comfort level analyzing and modeling income, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Demonstrated good judgement, you take initiative, and seek guidance when needed in order to advance your projects.
  • Experience and interest in working with large datasets. If you also have experience with Business Intelligence packages (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.) it is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Strong quantitative skills, highly organized, and have extreme attention to detail.
  • A moral compass; high integrity is non-negotiable.
  • Drive and are motivated and adhere to the highest professional standards in working with clients and colleagues.
You Are:
  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic
  • A leader of others; you lead by example
  • A strong team player, able to work with team members across all levels
  • Able to effectively communicate complex issues and solutions, and raise issues to senior team members when necessary
  • Comfortable managing projects with multiple complex workstreams while also focused on your single workstream (you are managing and doing).
  • Excited to be part of a growing team, with a focus on driving future growth
  • Full of entrepreneurial spirit and comfortable in a fluid, flat organization
  • Knowledgeable about the relationship between Private Equity sponsors and their portfolio companies
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional client service
  • Someone who enjoys mentoring others and doing meaningful work

The annual salary for this role ranges from: $100,000 to $140,000 benefits bonus. Actual compensation packages are determined by evaluating a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, years and depth of experience, education, certifications, cost of labor and internal equity.
