Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead high‑level, large‑scale initiatives across departments, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and timely delivery.

You will supervise project managers, coordinate with executive leadership, develop roadmaps, monitor KPIs, and mentor a team of coordinators and analysts in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of project management experience with progressive responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, CS, Business, health service, or related field.
  • Healthcare project management experience preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and monitors detailed implementation plans with stakeholders.
  • Maintains robust project management tracking, updates on projects, and escalates issues.
  • Creates executive‑level presentations and facilitates meetings with clear objectives.
  • Provides consultative, technical, and decision‑making support to the department.

Job Description

Develops, executes, and manages high-level, complex, and large‑scale initiatives and projects related to department goals. Leads strategic plan development, system integration, and implementation support management. Manages and reports the deliverables, status, and quality elements throughout the lifecycle for projects that may span multiple functions, departments, and processes. Helps to ensure that scope for all projects is in line with goals and that quality projects are delivered on time. Manages Quality/Project Manager, who supervises team of data management coordinators, and Project Managers responsible for operational project delivery. Works closely with department leadership to ensure development of strategic plan roadmap, prioritized program growth, and implementation of plan and decisions with goal/KPI performance monitoring for demonstrating success.

Experience
  • 5 years of experience in project management with progressive responsibility
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in project management in a healthcare environment
  • 2 years of experience in supervision or lead project management
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, Business, health service, or related field

  • Proficient at an expert level in Microsoft Project or comparable project management software
  • Proficient at a high level in the use Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent verbal and writing skills for executive communications and project reporting

  • Able to lead projects from inception to completion with minimal management supervision and to assist other team members in learning these skills

Job Responsibilities
  • Develops and monitors detailed implementation plans and ensures flawless implementation with stakeholders in support of department strategy, decisions, and direction.
  • Maintains robust project management tracking process, regularly provides updates on projects, and escalates appropriate issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Creates effective presentations for executive-level communications and facilitates meetings for clear objectives and meaningful outcomes.
  • Provides high-level consultative, technical, and decision-making support to department. Conducts due diligence and research and analyzes/interprets data, processes, and systems related to assigned projects.
  • Works collaboratively with the department’s internal resources and external resources (both at Children’s and national peer programs).
  • Provides project portfolio management services and support.
  • Oversees multiple project implementations concurrently while managing and providing leadership support to assigned project managers.
  • Supervises data management coordinators and guides project managers by providing implementation and leadership direction.
  • Directly manages impromptu and scheduled critically needed projects as needed.
  • Takes a lead role in documenting project management protocols, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provides implementation services independently, including project management, strategic planning, rollout support, system selection, and operational planning.
  • Acts as point of escalation for project managers and team members.
  • Oversees team status reporting and escalates issues and resource needs.
  • Manages the development and progress of project plans, including master schedule, budget impact, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Communicates project plans and milestones with department, all project team members, users, and other stakeholders.
  • Establishes internal support for methods used.
  • Manages project management expectations effectively, involving the right partners at the right time to accomplish collective goals and ensure that projects remain in line with operational goals.
  • As assigned, acts as a liaison to system resources, including academics, fundraising, marketing, communication, and finance.
  • Tracks and facilitates department strategic plan, specifically in regard to clinical and business operation programs.
  • Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
  • Mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
  • Encourage ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.
