Amergis Healthcare Staffing, Columbia, MD, seeks an Assistant Controller to oversee regional financial reporting and processes, reporting to the Regional Controller. The role also serves as a liaison between field operations and corporate departments, participating in AR/AP activities for the region.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance, 3–5 years of supervisory experience (healthcare staffing a plus), and strong Excel/Office skills; MBA is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3–5 years of supervisory experience; healthcare staffing/finance preferred.
• MBA preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc).
• Strong communication skills; ability to liaison with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee regional financial reporting and processes.
• Act as liaison between field operations and corporate departments (Purchasing, Payroll, Contracts, Legal, Accounts Payable, Revenue Cycle).
• Review expenses and financial statements; ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Provide education and customer service to branch offices; train direct reports.
• Support RFP and contracts processes; participate in forecasting and budgeting.

Amergis is seeking an Assistant Controller that will report to the Regional Controller, holding responsibility for overseeing financial reporting and processes for the region, while serving as an operational liaison between the field and Amergis Headquarter departments. Additionally, the Assistant Controller may act as a key stakeholder in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable for the Region.

The Assistant Controller promotes an environment of support to drive team member and field development by maintaining clear communication around the Company’s strategic vision and goals.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Involved in various financial components of the business, including business process improvement, forecasting, budget analysis, cost controls, compensation, and other financial reporting
• Actively involved in the operational and financial components of Request for Proposals (RFP) and Contracts process
• Acts a liaison on behalf of the field with the various corporate departments, including Purchasing, Payroll, Contracts, Legal, Accounts Payable, Revenue Cycle, etc.
• Reviews expenses and other financial statements/reporting
• Provides education and customer service to Branch offices
• Responsible for the training and continued development of direct reports
• Establishes open communication and invests in the vision of team success
• Adheres to all internal policies and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
• Three to five (3-5) years of experience as a supervisor preferred; preferably in healthcare, staffing, credit or finance industries
• MBA preferred but not required
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc), required
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with co‑workers, supervisor, management, and department head staff and various agency personnel
• Must be available to travel for occasional off-site meetings
• Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co‑workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
