Job summary

Amazon's Rapid and Rural Logistics (R2L) Finance team is seeking a Finance Manager to influence business decisions across SSD, Rural Super Rural, and Amazon Today. You will build financial models, drive planning and reporting, and partner with operations to improve profitability and the customer experience.

The role requires strong data analysis, communication skills, and experience leading cross‑functional initiatives. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required; MBA/CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience.
  • 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience.
  • 5+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy.
  • 5+ years of leading cross‑functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a highly analytical field.

The Rapid and Rural Logistics team covers a portfolio of high-growth businesses with unique fulfillment and operational capabilities such as Sub Same Day (SSD), Rural Super Rural (RSR), and Amazon Today. Our Finance teams partner closely with our operations teams to influence the strategic direction of the business, drive operations excellence, and make sound investment and expansion decisions, with the primary goal of continuously improving the customer experience while driving long-term profitability for our portfolio of businesses. We experiment constantly, fail fast, and never stop learning.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly‑evolving environment. They will collaborate with executives and business units across Amazon, bring excellent verbal and written communication skills, and prioritize the most impactful projects and programs to drive businesses forward. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity of building innovative solutions with large‑scale data mining tools, identifying high‑priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders, and solving complex problems that impact company‑wide strategic decisions.

Key job responsibilities
  • Leverage financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon
  • Deliver financial reporting/planning working across stakeholders to understand input drivers, validate reporting integrity, and influence strategic decision‑making and action plans
  • Make thoughtful judgement calls in ambiguous environments where data may be scarce or difficult to procure.
  • Use active listening skills and communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjust style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly
  • Participates in hiring, developing, and mentoring peers and team members. Seeks and leverages diverse perspectives
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
  • 5+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
  • 5+ years of leading cross‑functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
  • MBA, or CPA
  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL
  • Experience working with large‑scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
