Job summary

AbbVie seeks a Finance Manager R&D Oncology to serve as a key finance business partner to the Oncology Clinical Development Team and Portfolio Program Management. You will oversee financial planning, analysis, and decision support to ensure accurate spend forecasting and optimal resource allocation.

Regular collaboration with R&D leadership to drive strategic budgeting, cost control, and long-range planning is essential.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Finance and/or Health/Life Sciences preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive, relevant finance experience.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration in dynamic, fast-paced settings.
• Ability to question assumptions and improve processes.
• Influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

• Present financial insights to R&D leadership to inform funding decisions.
• Collaborate with R&D to deliver on financial commitments and growth value drivers.
• Execute monthly/quarterly/LRP/LBE cycles as required.

The Finance Manager R&D Oncology serves as a key finance business partner to the Oncology Clinical Development Team and Portfolio Program Management. This role provides financial planning, analysis, and decision support to R&D leadership, ensuring the integrity of clinical spend forecasting and enabling sound resource allocation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scenario planning andcosting ofclinical studies to support portfolio submissions, key strategic governance meetings, and business development opportunities.
• Monitor study progress and revise study estimates withtimelyand relevant causals rationale for senior management. Maintain integrity of financials and strong internal control environment for clinical study accounting (ROSS accounting).
• Adhere to the forecasting best practices andutilizationof the R&D clinical cost calculator and cost categoriesestablishedby the R&D forecasting COE and elevate unique or unusual situations.
• Develop a deep understanding of clinical trial cost interdependencies to provide clear, actionable financial guidance to clinical and finance partners.
• Provide relevant variance analysis for each planning cycle; develop meaningful management reporting schedules and ensure accuracy and predictability of results.
• Prepare and present financial insights in discussions with R&D Therapeutic and Finance leadership, highlighting the components of clinicalspendand the implications of changes to enable informed decision-making.
• Serve as a strategic finance business partner to the Oncology Clinical Development Team and Portfolio Program Management, building trusted relationships that drive sound financial planning and decision-making.
• Play an active role in R&D business partner meetings, providing decision support through data-driven analysis and contributing financialperspectiveto inform and shape decisions related to funding and resource use.
• Proactively collaborate with the R&D organization todeliver onfinancial commitments and identify and deliver strategic and growth value drivers.
• Develop insights and recommend actions to manage any deviations fromplan; ensure coherent financial analysis and alignment across functions through the identification of opportunities to invest, reduce costs, and mitigate risks.
• Execute and manage all aspects of monthly, quarterly, Plan, Long Range Plan (LRP), and Latest Business Estimate (LBE) cycles asrequired.

Qualifications

Required

• BA/BS degreerequired; degree in Finance and/or Health/Life Sciences preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive, relevant finance experience.
• Strong teamplayer witha track recordof effective cross-functional collaboration in dynamic, fast-paced settings.
• Demonstrated willingness to question assumptions and constructively challenge the status quo to improve processes and outcomes.

Preferred

• MBA orMaster'sdegree in related field.
• Pharmaceutical or biotech industry experiencestronglyencouraged.
• Experience with SAP, BPC,ClinPro, Power BI, and/or Clin2Pay.
