Amazon in Anchorage, Alaska is seeking a Finance Manager to own the financial close for the NACF organization, a multi‑billion‑dollar network. Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field.
  • Five or more years of finance/accounting experience, or a master’s degree with three or more years of finance/accounting experience.
  • MBA and/or professional certifications such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CPA.
  • Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems such as Oracle, SAP, Lawson, or JD Edwards.
  • Knowledge of SQL and ETL processes.
  • Experience delivering budgeting, variance analysis, and data interpretation of results.
  • Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in month-end and quarter-end close controllership activities in compliance with Governance, Risk & Compliance procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of processes, implementing best practices in the controllership area.
  • Prepare key insights in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner as a highly trusted source of information about financial data, processes, and the business operations we support.
  • Identify and implement solutions to resolve, improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance processes.
  • Make thoughtful time-management decisions independently; prioritize work, resolve issues, meet deadlines, and seek feedback from management.
  • Discern between urgent and non-urgent issues and act accordingly to solve them.
  • Participate in events, initiatives, and projects, and share gained knowledge internally and externally.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and effective team culture, demonstrating operations excellence.

This role will own the financial close for the North America Customer Fulfillment (NACF) organization, a multi‑billion‑dollar network focused on lowering cost and speeding delivery. The Finance Manager will understand macro‑level strategy and its impact on micro‑level activities, design and maintain internal controls to meet SOX requirements, and partner with Fixed Asset/Lease Accounting, Supply Chain, Capital Planning, Real Estate, Engineering, and Construction Management teams.

The successful candidate will have a high attention to detail, a strong sense of ownership, unlimited curiosity, and a passion for continuous improvement as we work toward worldwide standardization. They will influence finance and business leaders, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly evolving environment. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900 per year in our lowest geographic market to $179,500 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
