Job description

The NA Supply Chain Execution Finance team is looking for a Finance Manager to serve as a strategic finance partner within the Supply Chain Execution space. This role will own end-to-end financial controllership for key volume planning processes, partnering closely with Network, Sortable, Non-Sortable, and IXD S&OP teams to optimize the flow of 40B+ units through Amazon's North American fulfillment network. Our inbound supply chain has evolved considerably in recent years — with FC-FC transfers reduced from 20% to 13%, over $300M in validated cost savings delivered in FY2025, and more innovation to come.

This Finance Manager will own the financial narrative for their domain — driving cost transparency, building scalable mechanisms, and delivering insights that influence VP-level decisions. You will operate with significant autonomy, manage ambiguity across multiple planning cycles, and influence outcomes across 4+ partner organizations without direct authority.

This is a perfect role for someone who knows how to lead fast, think strategically, and drive results across multiple stakeholder teams. Your experience in operations finance gives you the perspective to look around corners and proactively avoid problems. You know which details drive millions in impact and which ones don't add value. You can clearly communicate complex trade-offs to senior leadership and effectively influence partners using data-driven recommendations.

Finance is all about the numbers…unless you work at Amazon; it's knowing the numbers and so much more. We seek Finance Managers who combine analytical rigor with strategic business partnership — leaders who don't just report what happened, but shape what happens next. Do you view problems as treasures, and are you willing to dive deep to develop solutions that drive nine-figure impact? Will you challenge the status quo, build mechanisms that scale, and influence cross-functional partners without direct authority? At Amazon, we move with purpose and speed, and this requires working with a dynamic network of Operations, Science and Tech, and Supply Chain partners. We are the trusted business advisors — employing every facet of data and communication to ensure our partners and leaders make the best possible decisions. Come teach us a few things, and we'll teach you a few things as we navigate the most customer-centric company on Earth.

Key job responsibilities
  • Financial Controllership & Mechanism Ownership: Own end-to-end financial controllership for assigned planning systems (e.g., True North, F2P, WTPSS, Skippy), ensuring cost inputs are accurate, current, and driving optimal network outcomes
  • Strategic Business Partnership: Serve as the trusted finance advisor to S&OP business partners — translating operational decisions into financial impact, quantifying trade-offs, and recommending actions that optimize for cost and speed
  • Planning Cycle Leadership: Own metric inputs and financial narratives for quarterly and annual planning cycles (OP2, QXG, OP1/3YF), aligning cross-functional assumptions across SCOT, MTP, Capacity, and Operations teams
  • Cost Savings Identification & Delivery: Identify, validate, and track cost savings opportunities across the inbound and outbound network — building entitlement cases and holding organizations accountable to committed plans
  • Executive Communication: Deliver WBR/MBR insights, variance analyses, and strategic recommendations to Director and VP-level audiences. Translate complex data into clear, actionable narratives.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Drive alignment across 4+ partner organizations (S&OP, SCOT, NACF Operations, Network Design, Field Finance) without direct authority — using data, relationships, and mechanisms
  • Automation & Scalability: Identify opportunities to automate, standardize, or simplify finance processes — reducing manual effort and improving data accuracy and timeliness
A day in the life

Own the financial narrative for your domain within NA Supply Chain. Lead weekly and quarterly forecasting that optimizes for end-to-end costs across the network. Build cost models that quantify the impact of operational decisions — from inventory placement to transfer routing to capacity utilization. Present recommendations to Directors and VPs in WBR and MBR forums. Partner with upstream and downstream teams to root cause variances, quantify risks and opportunities, and drive corrective actions. Build mechanisms that create accountability and reduce plan-vs-actual variance.

About The Team

The NA Supply Chain Execution Finance team is the financial backbone for US and Canada S&OP, providing controllership, strategic partnership, and technical expertise for 40B+ units annually flowing through Cross Docks, Distribution Centers, and Fulfillment Centers. We translate customer demand into executable fulfillment plans that enable inventory to flow at lower cost and faster speed.

We own critical planning systems (True North, Skippy, F2P, WTPSS) and influence five core levers: Volume, Outbound Cost, Ops Variable, Ops Fixed, and Freight Cost In. A 1% variance in our metrics represents $43-51M annually — the decisions we inform matter at scale.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA, or CPA
  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL
  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
