Job summary

Medica, a nonprofit health plan serving multiple states, seeks a seasoned finance leader to own the medical expense month-end close process for the Fully-Insured Medica Legacy business. You will drive journal entries, reserves, and CMS/MLR-related filings while guiding a small team.

The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex financial processes. Office-based with hybrid flexibility and a comprehensive rewards package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 6 years of experience required.
• Prior supervision experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead medical expense month-end close for Fully-Insured Medica Legacy business.
• Prepare and post month-end journal entries for claims activity.
• Reconcile and clear claims clearing accounts monthly.
• Develop and validate IBNR estimates and claim reserves.
• Record receivables/payables and cash impacts in the GL.
• Process MDP and CGDP payments, projections, and accruals.
• Support DHS Data Requests and MLR filings.
• Provide audit support and analytics.
• Lead data validation and reconciliation for legacy GL outputs.
• Promote financial data enhancements and resolve system issues.
