FINANCE MANAGER

Montgomery County, VA

Finance Department

Responsibilities

• Perform complex professional and difficult administrative work.
• Coordinate, plan, and prepare detailed reporting for the County’s annual audits and related component units and agencies for which the County is the fiscal agent.
• Prepare audit workpapers, implement new guidance, and produce the County Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
• Develop and maintain the departmental procedures manual.
• Interpret federal and state laws, local ordinances, and procedures to ensure compliance of financial activities.
• Provide leadership in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director and act as a backup for various finance functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required). Six years of related experience preferred.
• Must hold and maintain a Virginia Certified Public Accountant License.
• Ability to work within broad policy and organizational guidelines, independently plan and implement projects, and report progress through meetings.
• Strong knowledge base of Finance, Payroll, and HR systems, applications, databases, and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
