Job summary

The Finance Internship at Werner provides hands-on experience supporting core finance functions—credit, collections, reporting, and compliance—alongside experienced professionals.

Interns will work on reconciliations, audits, budgeting, and financial analysis, learn practical tools, and contribute to process improvements in Werner's collaborative, growth-minded environment in Appleton.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited program pursuing a degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or another related field.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile customer accounts to collect payment and resolve deductions for assigned portfolio
• Provide copies of invoices, POD’s, and statements to customers when requested
• Learn DNB Credit Business tool to evaluate credit for new accounts, credit extensions, and possible risk
• Review orders on credit hold for customers in assigned portfolio
• Attend industry credit group meetings with another Analyst
• Support financial reporting by gathering and organizing data for analysis
• Help prepare presentations, reports, and summaries for management review
• Assist with budget tracking and variance analysis
• Conduct research on financial trends, industry benchmarks, and best practices
• Maintain and update financial databases, records, and spreadsheets
• Participate in process improvement initiatives within the finance team
• Other related duties as assigned

Timeline and Expectations

Werner will be posting the internship positions starting in late September which will run through the end of November. We will be selecting candidates to move forward with from HR phone screen to virtual hiring manager interview during this time.
