Job summary

Valeo, a global automotive supplier, invites you to join as a Finance Intern at our production site in Troy, Michigan. You will work part-time, supporting closing reporting, budgeting, and forecasts while learning how IFRS and MAF controls apply in a real manufacturing environment.

You are a student in Finance or Accounting, with Excel and Google Apps familiarity, and you will help organize financial records in the ERP system and participate in audits and cost-reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience with Excel and Google Applications is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support closing reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for one production site.
• Examine financial statements for accuracy and IFRS/MAF compliance.
• Organize, analyze, and maintain financial records in the site ERP system.
• Assess financial operations, identify risks and recommend cost-saving improvements.
• Assist with Business Plan and Budget preparation and ad-hoc analyses (R&D).
• Support internal and external audits for the region.

About the Role:

As a Finance Intern, you will:

• Support for closing reporting, the budget, the business plan and the forecasts of one of our production site.
• Examine financial statements to ensure that they are accurate and comply with laws and regulations: Support reliability of financial statements (MAF/IFRS rules compliance, focus on capitalized R&D expenses)
• Organize, analyze, and maintain financial records: ensure accuracy of management control and financial information in the ERP system of the site
• Assess financial operations, identify risks and challenges, and make best-practices recommendations to management & Suggest ways to reduce costs, enhance revenues, and improve profits:
• Business Plan and Budget preparation and ad-hoc analysis in regards of R&D: Organize, analyze, and maintain financial records
• Assist Business Management Controller with various other special projects as needed.
• Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency and use of accepted accounting procedures and identify potential risks for fraud: Support of R&D internal audit IC2 / external audit for the region
• Ensure compliance with MAF, IFRS and internal controls

What you Should Have:

• You are a student currently enrolled in courses pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Experience with Excel and Google Applications is preferred.
