Job summary

Komatsu is seeking a Finance Intern for our Peoria, IL facility. You will assist with accounting tasks in the Operations Accounting Department, supporting month-end reporting, forecasting, accounts payable, inventory, and financial analysis.

The role is onsite at the Peoria manufacturing facility with a Summer 2026 start and potential extension into Fall semester. Full-time hours in summer and flexible part-time during the academic year.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an Accounting or Finance Program from a 4-year accredited college/university.
• Must be able to apply academic background to real business world experiences.
• Experience: work study, student clubs, volunteer leadership, etc. preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Reconcile vendor statements.
• Complete month-end reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Distribute weekly and monthly financial reports.
• Perform physical inventory audits.

Job Overview

As a Finance Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Operations Accounting Department. The Operations Accounting Department performs the accounting and financial support of the Manufacturing facility located in Peoria. Activities will include month-end financial reporting, financial forecasting, accounts payable, inventory, and business decision financial support

This position will be based onsite at our Peoria manufacturing facility! The target start date for this role is Summer 2026 and has potential to be extended into the Fall 2026 school semester. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Complete Journal Entry creation and posting
• Vendor statement reconciliations
• Complete month end reconciliations and investigate/resolve any reconciling items
• Send out weekly and monthly financial reports
• Perform the physical audit of Inventory

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education: Actively enrolled in an Accounting or Finance Program from a 4-year accredited college/university.
• Must be able to apply academic background to real business world experiences.
• Experience: Prior experience with work study programs, school or volunteer leadership roles, participation on teams or in clubs, professional organizations, etc. preferred.
• Soft Skills: Must have Excellent written and verbal communications. Ability to multi-task, manage deadlines and easily adapt to new challenges and business working environment. Strong motivation to make contributions to Komatsu and strong motivation to drive results.
• PC Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically with Excel (Pivot Tables), Power Point (slide presentations) and other summary and analysis tools. Must demonstrate good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Travel: Some travel may be required.

Hiring Range

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $18. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
