Job summary

Oasis Arts Inc. seeks a Finance & HR Manager to oversee bookkeeping, payroll, budgeting, audits, and all HR policies. You will partner with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and a compliant, equitable workplace.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in nonprofit finance, accounting, or HR administration.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and standard HR/payroll systems.
  • Working knowledge of California employment law and nonprofit compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills for non-financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain day-to-day bookkeeping, A/P, A/R, cash management, and bank reconciliations.
  • Process payroll accurately and on time per regulations.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, dashboards, and variance analyses for leadership and board.
  • Support annual budgeting, track actuals, and flag risks.
  • Coordinate annual audit and tax filing with external auditors and Board Treasurer.
  • Administer HR functions: onboarding, benefits, records, and inquiries.

Job description

Working closely with the Executive Director and Board Treasurer, the Finance & HR Manager maintains accurate financial records, manages payroll and benefits, supports budgeting and audit processes, and oversees all HR policies and personnel administration. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, mission-aligned professional who thrives at the intersection of numbers and people.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, bank reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring
  • Process payroll accurately and on time, in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports, dashboards, and variance analyses for the Executive Director and Board
  • Support the annual budgeting process, including tracking actuals against projections and flagging risks
  • Coordinate the annual audit and tax filing processes, working with external auditors, accountants and the Board Treasurer.
  • Maintain organized financial records, contracts, and documentation in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards
  • Track and process grant-related expenditures, ensuring compliance with funder restrictions and reporting requirements
Human Resources
  • Administer all HR functions including onboarding, offboarding, benefits enrollment, and personnel record management
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook, policies, and procedures in compliance with California employment law
  • Serve as the first point of contact for staff HR questions related to benefits, leave, accommodations, and workplace concerns
  • Support recruitment processes including job postings, applicant tracking, interview coordination, and offer letters
  • Ensure compliance with all labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, required trainings, and required postings
  • Partner with the Executive Director to foster a positive, equitable, and inclusive workplace culture
  • Administer performance review cycles and maintain documentation of goals, feedback, and professional development
Systems & Compliance
  • Manage and maintain accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks), HR platforms (e.g., Gusto), and related organizational systems
  • Ensure organizational compliance with nonprofit regulatory requirements including 990 filings, state registrations, and insurance coverage
  • Support contract administration for vendors, contractors, and consultants, in coordination with the Executive Director
Qualifications
Required
  • 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit finance, accounting, or HR administration
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks strongly preferred) and standard HR/payroll systems
  • Working knowledge of California employment law and nonprofit financial compliance
  • Strong attention to detail, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for non-financial stakeholders
Preferred
  • Experience with grant tracking, restricted funding, and nonprofit audit preparation
  • Background in both finance and HR within a single organizational role
  • Familiarity with arts, cultural, or mission-driven nonprofit environments
