ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• 1. Responsible for validating the accuracy of general ledger and financial records
• 2. Records, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• 3. Prepares designated financial reports on a regularly scheduled basis. Maintains a close working relationship with the contracted Management company finance director.
• 4. Reconciles sub-ledgers to the general ledger and reconciles differences.
• 5. Develops financial reports for financial analysis, forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
• 6. Oversees the accounts payable function and ensures that vendor payments are made timely.
• 7. Focus on adding value through cost reduction or revenue enhancement strategies. Serves as a resource person for other department heads, superiors, peers and subordinates for annual budget preparation.
• 8. Coordinates year-end activities including Medicare and Medicaid audits and the annual financial audit. Supplying information for audit requests.
• 9. Prepares investment account analysis schedules and postings to general ledger.
• 10. Oversees the business office functions and staff to ensure that timely and correct Medicare Part A, Part B, Medicaid and Private Pay bills are processed.
• 11. Maintains and coordinates banking relationships.
• 12. Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices, assuring resident safety.

Qualifications

• 1. Bachelor's degree in accounting with related healthcare accounting and finance experience. Must possess a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
• 2. Minimum of three to five years' accounting and finance experience with general ledger close through financial statement preparation. Previous long-term care or hospital accounting and finance experience preferred.
• 3. Proficient in Microsoft office applications - specifically Excel and Word, and other key business financial or business management systems.
• 4. Willingness to grow personally and develop staff.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to sit at a desk for up to six hours per day; must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, and squat to access files and various documentation; must be able to lift 20 pounds; may be exposed to a constant noise level due to equipment located in the office.
