We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Finance Director professional to work at our location in Pleasant Grove, Utah. This is a full-time, in-office, and exempt position not entitled to overtime.

Job Description

The Finance Director serves as a senior financial leader of the organization and a strategic partner to the company officers and the executive leadership team. This role reports to the Chief Operations Officer and is responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, and external financial reporting functions while ensuring strong internal controls and fiscal discipline. The Finance Director translates financial data into actionable business intelligence, providing insight into organizational performance, operational efficiency, and long-term financial sustainability. This leader manages the accounting function through the Accounting Director and Junior Accountant, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with applicable standards, and the integrity of financial systems and processes. The ideal candidate combines executive-level financial strategy with hands‑on analytical rigor and strong team leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
  • Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the COO and executive team
  • Lead long‑range financial planning to support organizational growth and operational priorities
  • Develop financial models to evaluate new initiatives, capital investments, and business scenarios
  • Provide clear financial insights to inform executive decision‑making
  • Work with external financial consultants for fractional CFO, bookkeeping, and reconciliation
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
  • Lead the annual budgeting process across departments, including timeline development, guidance, consolidation, and executive presentation
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast
  • Collaborate with departmental stakeholders to analyze financial and sales trends, financial ratios, key performance indicators, business drivers, and operational data in support of revenue forecasting and financial planning activities
  • Perform mid‑year re‑forecasting and rolling forecasts to ensure financial alignment
  • Identify risks and opportunities through proactive financial analysis
  • Oversee preparation and delivery of internal and external financial report
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets
Accounting Oversight
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Accounting Director and Junior Accountant
  • Partner with the Accounting Director to develop financial projections and budgets for new projects, initiatives, and business proposals
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements as appropriate
  • Oversee cash flow management, accounts payable/receivable processes, and general ledger integrity
Process Improvement & Financial Infrastructure
  • Improve financial systems, reporting tools, and internal workflows for efficiency and scalability
  • Develop dashboards and executive‑level reporting packages
  • Establish financial policies and procedures that promote accountability and operational excellence
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the Accounting Director and Junior Accountant
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability standards
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the finance team
Additional Responsibilities
  • All other duties as assigned by management
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education & Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required. MBA strongly preferred
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles is required
  • Certified Public Accountant certification preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial capacity
  • Experience reporting to executive leadership or board‑level stakeholders preferred
Availability
  • In office 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, flexible hours between 8am and 6pm
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be eligible to legally work in the United States and provide applicable documentation
Leadership & Team Management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop accounting and finance teams
  • Experience managing multi‑level staff and delegating effectively
  • Strong performance management and coaching capabilities
  • Ability to build accountability and high standards within the department
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to operate at both executive and operational levels
Technical Skills & Systems Knowledge
  • Advanced financial modeling and forecasting expertise
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar platforms)
  • Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling)
  • Experience with budgeting and FP&A tools preferred
  • Ability to design dashboards and executive reporting packages
Time Management & Organization
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, reporting cycles, and strategic initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong project management capabilities, particularly during budgeting and forecasting cycles
  • Detail‑oriented with strong process discipline
  • Ability to prioritize high‑impact financial initiatives
  • Self‑motivated to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Arrives on time for and works all scheduled shifts, and communicates requested schedule changes well in advance
