Qualifications

The City is looking for an approachable, communicative, and collaborative leader willing to engage and innovate with department directors throughout the agency. The Finance Director is a strategic partner to the City Manager, City Commission, and staff. The City of Longwood is excited to have a self-starter join the team with a fresh perspective and proactive style. This position plans, organizes and directs the financial, utility billing, and purchasing programs of the City. Work is performed independently under broad direction of the City Manager and within the strategic goals and objectives of the City. This position develops and implements financial strategies for the City, including budgeting and capital planning, preparation of the City’s annual financial report(s), long-range financial forecasting, debt and revenue management, asset liability management, and cash and investment management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with major course work in accounting or public administration, and a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in governmental accounting, including a minimum of five (5) supervisory experience. Familiarity with Edmunds or enterprise system(s) and payroll processing preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office. CPA or CGFO is preferred. Must maintain a Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Must have or be able to complete ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800 courses within six (6) months of hire.
