Job summary

Brown Advisory is seeking a seasoned finance business partner to drive strategic planning and financial analysis for a key business line. You will partner with senior leadership to shape growth initiatives, build complex financial models, and guide resource allocation.

The role requires a strong background in corporate finance, FP&A, and investment management, with a proven ability to communicate insights to executives and influence decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics or related field.
  • 12–15+ years of progressive corporate finance, FP&A, or strategic finance experience.
  • MBA, CFA, or CPA designation is a plus.
  • Financial Services background; Wealth or Investment Management experience preferred.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, data, and critical-thinking skills with business acumen.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills; experience with AI tools is a plus.
  • Ability to influence and partner with executives and various levels across the organization.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Workday and Adaptive Planning desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary finance advisor to business line leadership influencing growth, investment prioritization, and profitability.
  • Analyze complex financial data to forecast performance and support strategic decisions.
  • Develop financial models for strategic investments and business cases.
  • Lead financial reporting, planning, and analysis; create new frameworks where gaps exist.
  • Partner with leadership to evaluate performance drivers like asset growth, pricing, and productivity.
  • Produce storytelling finance and board/exec presentations.
  • Champion automation and AI to improve forecasting and management reporting.
  • Collaborate with Corporate FP&A on ad hoc deliverables.

Overview

Brown Advisory is seeking a highly driven and analytical professional to serve as the finance business partner for one of the firm’s two business lines. The position reports to the Head of Finance and has accountability to the business line leadership team. The role offers a unique opportunity to serve as a trusted partner to senior business leaders, help shape strategic decisions, and influence the growth trajectory of the business. Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary finance advisor to business line leadership, influencing decisions related to growth, investment prioritization, resource allocation, operating leverage, profitability, and financial planning.
  • Analyze complex financial and operational data to generate insights, forecast future performance, and support strategic decision‑making.
  • Anticipate logical, potential next steps from both a finance and business perspective.
  • Evaluate and support strategic investment opportunities and business cases, inclusive of building thoughtful financial models.
  • Lead financial reporting, analysis, and planning; proactively create new frameworks where gaps exist.
  • Partner with leadership to evaluate business performance drivers including asset growth, pricing, productivity, and operating leverage.
  • Draw connections across business areas through strong partnership with Finance and Accounting team members.
  • Create and contribute to impactful finance and business‑centric Board and executive presentations, inclusive of thoughtful storytelling and messaging.
  • Champion the use of technology, automation, and artificial intelligence to improve decision support, forecasting, management reporting, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through data and financial analysis; propose actionable insights.
  • Support and foster a collaborative, inclusive, and knowledge‑sharing environment.
  • Partner with Corporate FP&A to complete ad hoc deliverables.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and lead cross‑functional projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Familiarity with Workday and Adaptive Planning is desirable.
  • Ability to work five days a week in our Baltimore or DC office.

Salary

MD Salary: $160‑$190k. Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long‑term incentive eligibility (if applicable). DC Salary: $176‑209k. Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long‑term incentive eligibility (if applicable).
