City of Webster Groves seeks a Finance Associate to join the dedicated Finance team in delivering accurate accounting, reporting, and compliance for a local government entity.

The role emphasizes audit support, journal entries, reconciliation, and timely financial statements, with a foundation in a bachelor’s degree or equivalent governmental accounting experience and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 years of governmental accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit accounts, cash receipts, payroll and other accounting records and transactions.
• Review, prepare and enter journal entries for recording in the accounting system.
• Reconcile financial ledgers and bank records.
• Create financial statements and reports, general and subsidiary ledgers (and supporting schedules).
• Research and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile taxes withheld, prepare monthly and quarterly government reporting.
• Assist with the annual audit.
• Oversee the annual business licensing process.
