Job summary

Waukesha County Health & Human Services seeks a Principal Financial Analyst to design and implement a centralized finance service model across county departments, delivering consistent, high-quality financial services.

The role requires a strong accounting background and may include CPA consideration. It emphasizes building dashboards, improving financial processing, reporting, and automation of accounts payable while guiding staff in centralized services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, or a closely related field.
• Three (3) years of responsible professional work experience in accounting, budget preparation, maintaining expense, revenues, and general ledgers, or computerized accounting systems.
• Master’s degree in an area listed above may be substituted for one (1) year of the work experience requirement.

Responsibilities

• Understand departments' current financial procedures, reporting needs, pain points, and operational requirements.
• Recommend improvements to financial processing, reporting, and service delivery while building a scalable centralized model.
• Lead or coordinate the work of staff providing centralized financial services to County departments.
• Manage department financial dashboards to present budget drivers, trends, account activity, and performance indicators.
• Help implement and maintain automation tools to streamline Accounts Payable and other financial processes.
